    Clearly a travel - my issue is with the boneheads who say because this is a travel, all of them are travels. (Cough, Steph Curry, cough, Steve Kerr)

    It was a travel, but the refs probably thought, "I'll let you have the shot, but not the and 1".

    Nope, I'm in your boat as well. I'm not afraid to call Harden out for traveling, but I don't think this was a travel.

    The stepback can only start once both hands have gathered the ball, it looks like that first step back was before the gather, therefore making his second stepback legal as it was only 1 step back after he gathered.

    Perhaps I'm wrong, but I feel like the rule is highly dependent on WHEN his hands gather the ball, and obviously, we can't even see his hands in the video and have to go off of his arms from behind.

    Clearly a travel.

    I'm counting the first step being his left foot pushing off. He then takes a step back with his right foot (2nd step) and then his (3rd step) is planting the left foot down.

    Watch it on 0.25x speed.

    Its a travel , but if the NBA lets Lebron go from 3pt line to rim without a dribble they might as well allow this too.

    It’s hard to tell when his hand touches the ball. Left foot is already off the ground going back but can’t tell if he’s got both hands on the ball.

    You can’t go by that, it’s when the second hand is on the ball. This why it’s such a topic of controversy.

    The sequence is left step, right step, left step, right step, left step, shot

    Hasn't gathered yet after the first left step.

    That's all you need to know and it's obvious.

    His first right step back is the gather step, so it counts as 0.

    The 2nd left step is 1.

    The 2nd right step is 2, becoming the pivot.

    The third left step doesnt matter as long as he jumps off both feet at the same time which he does.

    Also, he can move the left foot as many times as he wants as long as he keeps the right foot planted. He can pass, or shoot but he has to jump off both feet simultaneously.

    That’s what I’m seeing, people keep looking at his feet not taking into account when he gathers the ball. It’s looks legit to me as well

    When played in real time, nobody can tell if it is a travel. If you put every player's move under slow motion, there will be too many traveling calls in a game.
