I'm finding myself changing the channels whenever Superbad trailers come on now. Every time a new one comes out, they show another funny part. I've never seen a low budget comedy released in mid August get this much press...
I read something about this. They did a TON of viral marketing for the film very early on. Some of the cast were involved in creating trailers, posters and doing other forms of marketing. A lot of them took it on themselves to do the promotion online without the help of the distributor.
