Can anybody remember any draft that was more muddled up than this one with any of 6 guys being capable of going #1 or slipping out of the top 6? It's just crazy. I can't remember anything like it. We have no idea really who Toronto is going to pick or if they are even going to hold the pick, much less Chicago, Charlotte, and Portland. This draft is just totally bizarre.

And we haven't even got to picks 7-20 where anything could happen amongst a hodgepodge of generic players all with one skill and big questionmarks.

To me, this draft looks like one of those draft where you could very well get a player in the 2nd round or even an undrafted player that could be just as good and have just as productive a career as anybody in the first round.

Will anything clear up before draft day?

i'd guess teams know who they want, they're just playing the media to see who coughs up what.

^ Agreed. Everyone is playing the game right now, and as long as there is uncertainty, each pick will keep it's value.

You hear reports that Gay really impressed Bickerstaff at the workouts and that the Bulls are interested in taking Roy at #2. Teams want to move up and teams are opened to trading down. I don't think we will see much clarity in this draft, especially since guys like Thomas, Shelden Williams, and O'Bryant are rising and falling through the lottery every other day.

I agree that there might be some 2nd round gems. Guys like Gansey, Tucker, Novak, Pittsnogle, Dee Brown, Fernandez, etc...could all be good picks.

That usually means an uneventful draft if my experience holds true.

I think there are about 6 players who should be drafted around 3-9 and so it is difficult to decide who should be 1 and 2.

It is going to be easier to draft once the first two picks are made.

this trade would be incredible for the rockets if a few things happen. if there is no possible way that we can get tyrus than this would be an incredible trade. if there is no way that we can get a solid point guard, this would be an incredible trade. if andrea or rudy or morrison or roy somehow fall into our laps, this trade is off. so many people in this forum are cracking on tyrus, but look at the facts, this guy is explosive and i dont care how you look at it, he will put some fans in the stands (which has been a problem of late). you are looking at a guy with the ferocity of an amare stoudamire, the rebounding and the defensive ability of a marion, and the explosiveness that could propel this kid to super-stardom. this trade will be great for us, unless JJ is taken at no. 11. look at all of the great championship teams in the 90's. kerr, scotty brooks, and kerr again. what do these players have in common? little white guys that can hit the 3 from ANYWHERE on the court. lets get something out in the open, i am the biggest scotty brooks fan that has ever lived and im not a closet fan. now, when you have that kind of weapon on your team, you have just bought yourself a few more wins, which would help our miserable team. JJ would be a godsend for the houston rockets. our 3 point shooting was HORRIBLE for the past few years. JJ gives us a threat right off the bench. and at the no. 15 spot we have plenty of options. Ronnie Brewer seems to be the best pick here, but Shannon Brown, Maurice Ager, and Quincy Douby (who is a LIGHTS OUT shooter) are all available here. Now in the second round, if Leon Powe is available, here's a no brainer. PJ tucker will be around, as will Steve Novak, big body Craig Smith, Paul Milsap, and Allan Ray. Alot of people are saying that this draft lacks a lot of stars, but this is one draft in particular that, unless the rockets screw up and draft another european guy (przybilla and nachbar are 2 right off my head) , could really turn this team around

Errrr.....two things. Was Scotty Brooks even ON the championship team?? If so, he didn't make a bit of a difference in the playoffs, but I'm thinking he wasn't even on those squads....So, feel free to take your "Scottie" blinders off. As if the fact that shooters are "white," as you put it, makes a bit of a difference.

Oh, and second thing. Pryzbilla went to the University of Minnesota, so you are just a bit off with the European guy claim....

I would like Novak or PJ Tucker if they fell to HOU in the second round, so I agree with that.

brooks was definitely on the first championship team b/c game 7 was just on espn classic and after a bad call rudy grabbed brooks by his warmup jersey and shook him a few times he was so angry. i don't know if brooks ever did anything but mop-up duty (my recollection is no, he didn't) but he was on the team.

i don't remember seeing him during game 1 against the magic but goukas did mention that kenny smith wasn't used to being in the final minutes of games (kenny pretty much played the whole 4th quarter) b/c those minutes had been going to brooks and cassell the last few years. whether brooks was on this particular team, i don't know.

edit: it looks like brooks actually played a decent role in 94, playing about 17 mpg and scoring about 5 ppg. in 95 he was on the team but only got in 28 games and only played 7 mpg.
