This might even be a cheap price as a 12.5 point underdog, but it is pretty crazy when you think about it. You can actually get a higher payout right now for the Rockets to win game 7 (IE Vegas thinks there is less of a chance), than you could have for the Rockets to win the entire Western Conference before the season began. If we even wanted to emotionally hedge our bets for Sunday's game, it would cost even more to actually bet the Lakers. -1200 is about the best you can find on them. Risk $1200 to win $100. Crazy.

that is nuts. if i had 10 grand to just bet for the hell of it i have no idea who i would pick.

a chance what then to win 800 or i guess would that be 120,000...?

    is that right?

That is nuts. What if Kob turns his ankle in the first quarter?

That's a nice line for a Roks fan.

$1000 would win you $10,000 if the Rockets win. For the Lakers you would have to wager around $12,000 just to win $1,000. This is for a straight up win tomorrow, without the pointspread involved.

Odds makers want an even distribution of bets on each side because they make their money on the vig. So if you ask 12 people who will win today's game, 11 of them will say the Lakers. If you gave me even odds on this game, I would have to pick the Lakers also. What's great about this game is that the Rockets are playing with house money and all the pressure is on the Lakers.

Of course the odds have to be that stacked for people to even consider putting money on the Rockets, and to defer some people from placing their bets on the Lakers... its how Vegas works...if u only had to place $1000 on the Lakers to win $1000, then everyone would definitely place their bets on the Lakers...

I just got on the Rockets here in Australia paying $9.50 - 1. Amazing considering this is a game 7... oh well something extra to be excited about if we get up!
