The deadbeat known as Mexico is aflame -- a giant dumpster fire on the US's border -- and it could get out of control.

You cannot build a wall high enough to keep the acrid stench of this former nation out of the US.

Six police killed in Mexican state ravaged by gang violence

Six Mexican police were shot dead on Monday in the western state of Jalisco, authorities said, in one of the bloodiest attacks on security forces in recent months on the first weekday of President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador’s new administration.

Jalisco state prosecutors said on Twitter that six state police were killed and one was injured in a shootout in the municipality of La Huerta on the Pacific coast, just days after an attack on a U.S. consulate in the local capital Guadalajara.

A spokeswoman for state prosecutors said it was not clear who was responsible for the killings, but that the area was known to be the territory of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), one of the most powerful drug gangs in Mexico.

How is this anything new for Mexico or a sign that it is the "beginning of the end"?

Tell Americans to stop buying and using drugs from overseas, or just try not to be a jingoistic hyperbigot.

I believe the 'just say no' campaign was tried and failed.

Why don't we just legalize and produce all our drugs inhouse so that the black market and gangs are made irrelevant?

That's what Uruguay did for weed, selling government grown grams for just $1. They have had problems producing and distributing enough mota, especially with international banks refusing the lend $$ due to the criminalization, but I doubt the US would have such problems if they chose to follow a similar path.

Millions of innocent people, including some of my family members, are terrorized by brutal gangsters financed by American's drug infatuation and addictions so don't be such a scumbag. Also quit overreacting as sadly this is very normal in Mexico.

If this happens with some Mexicans, then clearly all Mexicans are this way. What a great thread.

This is anything but normal. The homicide rate in Mexico is at a 21 year high, and may be at the highest in 100 years since its revolution.

Corruption in the white house is at a 21 year high. Does that mean it's the end of America?

Vice News Tonight had a little piece on the current situation in Mexico.

You get the feeling every single institution involved is corrupt to the very core.

    local police
    federal police
    Military
    local politicians
    National level politicians
    Elements of US Border patrol

It's just absolutely lawless and there is no end in sight. A lot of the corruption probably doesn't even stem from greed, it's the fact that you/your family will be killed if you don't get along. #Sad.

The guy on there was saying 80% of their product gets through to the U.S.

Just (gradually) end the War on Drugs already. It doesn't work and its a total waste of money. At the very least start with weed.
