"LBJ is the best defensive SF in basketball. And it's not even close." quote Jeff Van Gundy in Miami vs Lakers right now. ....Really now, JVG??? I thought you loved us. Especially Mr. Intangibles.
Shane is so much smarter than LBJ but that doesn't make him better. Lebron is a physical specimen. He can jump higher run quiccker and out strong any other sf in the game.
Good points but this is coming from Van Gundy. I mean he would bring up Rockets players up in discussions where they wouldn't even be mentioned otherwise. Now he just kicks Battier to the curb. Just seems out of character, haha.
Arron Aflalo, Nicolas Batum, Gerald Wallace, Shane Battier, Josh Smith, Matt Barnes, Ron Artest, Andre Iguodala
Battier gets beaten off the dribble nearly every single play now. What did you guys expect? For him to be the dominant defensive force that he was for his entire career? I wouldn't say LeBron is the best defensive SF in the game, just based on his defensive fundamentals though...
None of them are better on defense than LeBron. LeBron is a good man defender and maybe the most dominant perimeter help defender since Pippen.
NONE of these guys is a better defender than LeBron when he decides to shut people down and disrupt passing lanes. Wade is a much better defender than Shane when he decides to be. Wade and LeBron continue to grow their chemistry. They take turns.
now his goal is to become the best defensive player in the game. dwight howard and KG are battling for that.
Im with JVG for Lebron...he is fast, block shots, assits and fights for rebounds every game... But Shane Battier is the most intelligent SF in the League...taking charges, leadership skills and taking cold-blooded shots when in a close game
Van Gundy also said that McGrady was a great defender for his Rockets... When the fact is that he was really efective only at 1on1 D.
Jordan did it. Kobe did it. To be great you must be great all around, the scary thought is Lebron can be the BEST defender the league has seen he could defend all 5 positions imo He just needs to polish his D and want to play D with constant percevirens.
Take it with a grain of salt. JVG often exaggerate things a bit as a commentator. I wouldn't be surprised if LeBron is the best defensive SF. "Not even close" is the exaggeration part.
