No way. Taylor went in hard like he always does, Olaseni stood his ground. It's basketball. Of course I hate that Taylor got hurt, but no one is at fault here, not even Olaseni. In reference to Bob Barker's post, Felix can be a good point guard. He does tend to make bad passes when he rushes the pace. With Holmes and Turner shooting well, there is no need to hurry passes or shots.
I tend to subscribe to this school of thought. Taylor was coming in hard and the defender had more of a knee-jerk reaction (in protecting himself from getting dunked on) than a pre-meditated willful or malicious hit. Still sucks that Taylor is out for an extended period of time, but as long as he's healthy for conference play I'd consider that dodging a bullet.
DeMarcus Holland has definitely improved his offense this year, and I have always enjoyed his defensive presence.
Great win today. Hopefully Isaiah Taylor gets healthy quick! Would love to have him play against Kentucky at full strength
2 quality opponents, 2 matter of fact victories. Once again 9 more blocked shots, and 31% FG against. This defense looks legit. A cakewalk next week against SFA, then Uconn, and Kentucky in the same week, how's that for an early season test.
Moved up to number 7 in the AP and number 9 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Not that ranking mean a whole hell of a lot in college basketball. Sunday in Connecticut and next Friday at Kentucky will be great early tests for the Horns. It sucks that Taylor is out but hopefully the team can find a way to push through.
Do not know about Connecticut, but Kentucky is just too good, and their players are very big. But at least we have a few big men who could play with their big guys, hope that we are not going to look too bad if we are not going to win the game.
Texas will never be at a disadvantage size-wise this year, against anyone. You need to worry about guard play, especially shooting (always with UT) and penetration/creating off the dribble (Taylor's forte).
Man that shot wasn't pretty. But as long as it went in. Also, very fortunate that a Technical Foul wasn't called when a player ran onto the court to celebrate when UCONN was inbounding the ball. Also the whole team seemed like the game was over and was running to the sideline to celebrate. If UCONN had inbounded the ball properly they could have had an chance to win the game. Just nitpicking I know. Great win. Looking forward to watching the game against UK on Friday.
Kentucky has three 7 footers and a 6'6 pg. Join me and take off the burnt orange shades for Friday's game.
