You mean convex I think? Also if you have a convex border, the other shape will be concave, even if split into shapes.

They just need to limit the ratio of the perimeter to the area to only be up to 25% more than of that of a square of the same area.

So if you have a 10x10 square, your ration is 40 to 100 for a square or .4. Then you say the district of that area can't be more than .5. That will prevent too much gerrymandering those ridiculous looking districts

Yeah just use simple geometrical shapes or at least obvious geographical borders imo.

But districts still have to be drawn on sensible boundaries - rivers, county lines, etc that aren't conducive to obvious geometrical shapes. Plus they won't fit together either. The districts remember have to have essentially equal number of people.

    It's fairly complex.

If the Dems win the popular vote in the next presidential election (highly probably in my opinion) that will be 7 out of the last 8 elections. Which is pretty damn nuts.

This is, to me, the single most important issue (along with not electing but appointing judges) when talking about returning representative democracy back to what it should be, the people. Look at the districts in Texas. Mine currently stretches in a strip from North Austin to San Antonio, covering 4 or so counties. I don't know those people, how are their concerns the same as mine? I thought Republicans were for local government?

    I love it.
