I have test drove the new accord coupe and loved the rear view camera and iphone functionality but I prefer the look, speed, and precision handling of the few 328i coupes I test drove....

is it a good idea to buy a used low milage bmw 3 series? I was looking at getting one used with less than 30k miles but I heard they are a ***** to maintain

any other suggestions for a sporty coupe for around 22-28k?

Depends on what your plans are. Short term - bmw, Long term - Accord.

Of course the 2014 model - which will almost certainly come with a convertible option - is right around the corner.

Will make the Honda feel like a Little Tikes Cozy Coupe.

    one had 28,000 miles, 2009 for $25k

    another had 18,000 miles, 2010 for $28k

I want to keep this car for about 100,000 miles

Is that 2010 certified? Are you looking at a V6 Accord? How important are precision handling and performance brakes to you. Need more details before we tell you how to spend your money.

I have a 335i coupe. Accord gets you more bang for your money. 3-series is loads of fun to drive, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're expecting to drive it for a long time. I'd say accord since your other option is 328i. If you were considering the 335i, then it's a different story.

I second this, although I would personally get the Subaru version instead of Scion....not big on Toyota.

you really need to evaluate some other factors besides this. I would go with the accord as the bmw will be extremely expensive to maintain in the long term

I have a 328i. I wished I went accord, or at least TL/TSX. Easier to maintain.

I do love the BMW drive though. Overrated in the long run though.

Is a 328i any quicker than the Accord (assuming the 6 cylinder)?

Bimmers are overrated ****s. Annoying to maintain, even with warranty.

I would stay away from a used 3 series BMW. Your ownership cost is going to be high with all the repairs and maintenance work.

The Accord will be cheaper, more reliable, and hold its value well, which is what I would go with.

I generally discourage people from buying Audi or BMW unless they are buying either a new one or one with substantial amount of warranty left.

In short, buy the BMW if you are buying new. Buy the accord if you are buying used.
