    1. https://publicintegrity.org/federal-politics/journalists-shower-hillary-clinton-with-campaign-cash/ - The Center for public integrity is one of the most respected institutions in America.

    2. https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=3279453

This is a free download that none of you will read because it deals with numbers / facts that don't agree with the latest facebook meme.

    3. As a single entity, fox is the most watched news channel and has been for a while. Overall, it does not beat the multitude of news networks that lean left combined, including CNN, MSNBC and NBC.

    4. These studies do not include the online landscape of social media - heavily influential amongst younger ages - that are heavily left leaning.

Stubborn ignorance on so many obvious issues amongst liberals is a bigger reason for Trump getting elected than racism or homophobia or whatever excuse is popular today. It's time to eliminate to move towards moderate viewpoints and ignore the polarizing viewpoints if you want a democrat in 2020.

1.) Fox isn't news, its propaganda
2.) Overwhelmingly media leans toward facts.

I am confused... I thought the title was saying that media is overwhelmingly left... but he cites an article that says that reporters tend to be liberal.

    Not sure about that.

Journalists might be left leaning, but the institutions themselves are about turning profit and not rocking the boat of their corporate parents and sponsors.

If we're pigeonholing, Cons tolerate lies of commission in this Trump era, while non-cons fall for lies of omission, if only because of the effort and possible headaches involved in getting the complete picture.

Well the OP says libs are stubborn ignant, so if you're con-fused, you must be lib.

    Wow, such great convincing evidence.

    I did find this interesting:

Yes, it's about financial journalists and they show professionalism and desire toward accuracy. Probably does transfer to other types of journalism. But absolutely doesn't transfer to entertainment news (so-called popular media).

BTW, their method of encouraging participation in the survey (10K donation incentive to charity) might skew who chooses to participate.

Facts have an increasing liberal bias. That's what happens when an entire political party creates and embraces alternative facts.

    lol ok on 2.

Propaganda is so slick most people don't see through it unless it is far from their chosen side.

Amazing how political tribal minds defend their chosen media. Why do you all care so much about these corporations and why do you think their reporters are independent of the publisher somehow? A lot of you who routinely suck down corporate media swill are gen x too. The mtv gen that was supposed to rebel. Why have you gone full sell out stooge mode? Did your brains rot that fast?

Yes ironic i used mtv which is... another corporation. Maybe yall have been so emersed in corporate media you don't know anything else.

Or maybe journalists tend to be liberal because they are educated on the subject matter of their work and the two go together... education... being liberal.

Is the NYT or WAPO supposed to start hiring people who got their GED and their last job was working on an oil rig?

Someone who becomes a journalist has the exact type of demographic profile to almost surely be liberal, or socially liberal/fiscally conservative.

Sorry guys but we’ve always got our news from this Demographic. Has nothing to do with how you perceive they indoctrinate you with communist or socialist propaganda to turn you gay, and make you lose your guns and religion.

Fact is you guys on the right are just straight up paranoid in this generation. Everything that walks or moves is an existential threat to your beloved culture. Grow up and chill the F out.

No not really, most educated people can smell bullshit and might fall for a fake story once or twice, but quickly learn from their mistakes and adapt.

The right is just a cult stuck in a feedback loop of misinformation.

    I find it funny.

Why does a journalist left or right-leaning matter? Because people with a leaning project their bias onto them. They see that people, like them, can have views but cannot maintain non-bias professionalism in their work. The 2nd survey (although I question their way of motivating participation) actually point out the very opposite - the professionalism in journalism. People self-report their leaning (majority liberal in this case) and also report their desire for accuracy (and not for sensationalism that we often see from the popular media outlets). If you want, you can say this survey show that liberal-leaning journalists care about accuracy.

If there is to be a study on bias in media, you can study the journalist leaning, but that's a step away from the reporting. You must study the reporting itself and see if there is bias. And there are many types of bias - is there a bias toward accuracy, toward facts? That's easy to do. The much harder one is - is there a bias relative to the view of the populace. That is no longer a "factual" measurement, but a relative one toward the perception of the population as a whole, which itself is... bias already. The truth is... to many common Americans, on average, if you are on the right, you see the media as having a bias toward the left and if you are on the left, you see the media as having a bias toward the right. They both are true and meaningless for those that are more concern about accuracy and facts.

Fox isn't news and CNN is just one step away from the National Enquirer in terms of sensationalism. CNN has become one giant hot take show. I hate both of them for different reasons.

I have to triangulate my news these days and have been reading Reuters the most.

So people who go into journalism tend to lean liberal. Why should this be a surprise to anyone? Even the people at a Fox News that do actually news reporting probably lean liberal compared to their opinion/entertainment side.

Also, “liberal” and “left” aren’t the same thing.

I have to say I agree in part, and I too think the right, and left, or tribalists, are largely stuck in feedback loops. I agree in a way but overall I respectfully disagree with part of what you say about educated people and I'll explain my thinking on that. Most people who are educated are actually just further indoctrinated to think the same way instead of thinking for themselves. Largely taught by teachers to trust the Govt and Corporate media for academic sourcing and not really teaching people to be critical when engaging with them. Not nearly enough at least. I think the real propaganda is in how these organizations like CNN and Fox go about framing stories in advance to fit an agenda, for example focusing on impeachment only instead of just reporting the news organically like they teach in J school, and they then often ignoring huge stories for the sake of not pissing off the billionaire class. IE ABC dropping the Epstein Case which is a story about billionaire PEDOPHILE ISLAND. One of the largest stories of our generation so far.

The best way to propagandize is to poison the well by insulting the subject before you say what happened, or half truth.. simply telling half the story like a kid in the principles office trying to get someone else in trouble The last and least effective is straight up lying which is less common but still happening (See Covington).

There is a huge difference between unconscious leaning and active propaganda.

True and often conflated... and people argue usually having vastly different opinions and ideas of what those words mean.

Not really. You can be an unwitting propagansizer if you are sucking down the coolaid from the Repubs or Dems. Maybe a small difference in terms of motivation. But WW2 and Soviet era posters aren't the only type of propaganda and we have to deal with. There are unethical journalists in these companies willing to push their view and agenda and ignore truth and don't organically story tell. They often cut out pieces or poison the well. Some straight up lie but the other two are more common methods I see. Many journalists are seing themselves as agents of change rather than focusing on reporting the facts and following the news in a natural way. These agenda are popular too. Sadly Fox pioneered the modern lean to garner more audience and the others are following suit out of hunger for cash as these businesses fight to get clicks in the digital age. This is a new era of yellow journalism, if you're familiar with that era at all. The similarities are striking.
