Update: Harden and the Rockets all-time assist list

    James Harden is now in 5th on the Rockets all-time assist leaders list with 2,562.

    Based on a 12 assists per game projection, this season he will pass:
    - Mike Newlin (2,581) for 4th all-time in 2 games.
    - Hakeem Olajuwon (2,992) for 3rd all-time in 36-37 games.


    * Another note: Harden currently has 482 assists this season. He's on pace to have 964, shattering John Lucas' single-season franchise record of 768.

    Well, the only stat that I keep track of is championships. So, Get back to me when Harden has won 2 of them for the Rockets.

    Rings are great... but that's certainly not ALL that "really" matters in determining how good of a player Harden is. Rings are a team accomplishment, not an individual one.

    That said, no matter what you believe about statistics, it's hard to imagine Harden ever being the greatest Rocket of all time if he doesn't win at least one championship for Houston.

    I think it's pretty fascinating how quickly Harden is breaking franchise records. He's set to pass the great Calvin Murphy for #1 on the all-time assists list in his 7th season (Calvin set the mark in 13).

    I never compared them. Just said Harden is moving up on the assist list, Hakeem just so happens to be the guy he's passing. He still has 2 rings and 17,000 points to go to get compared to Dream lol.

    Hakeem Olajuwon is the greatest Rocket of all time. He was the foundation of Clutch City. Without Clutch City, the founder of the site, Clutch would have never created this site and you and I would not exist here.

    Harden passing Hakeem in assists is a milestone yes. But Harden is a guard and Hakeem is a center.
    A center who had so many assists it took an all star guard on a MVP pace to pass him.

    That just makes Hakeem's accomplishments more amazing.
