The expectations for our GM seem unrealistic to me. Every crackpot trade idea (like, 'hey, why don't we trade a 2nd round draft pick for Kobe") and high hopes for a major free agent signing out of a pretty slim group of free agents ("get er done Morey") seems to be setting a lot of fans up for disappointment this off season. I love Morey and think he is doing a great job making lemonaid out of lemons, given the circumstances. I hope folks don't hold him up to an unrealistic standard,
Never!!!! Morey is the best GM in the History of the WORLD!!! Morey for President!!!! Wouldn't it be cool if Morey later became the commish? That'd be Pimp. All joking aside. Morey does have a high expectation placed on him, but in this league its **** or get off the pot.
Morey is a GOD! No seriously, I just see him as the Billy Beane of the NBA except with the advantage of an owner willing to spend money. That's still pretty damn good though. He has the hallmarks of a good, forward-thinking, GM, such as acquiring and holding talent at relatively low price, looking to move assessts as soon as other teams overrate them, and drafting guys that he initially takes a lot of criticism for, but eventually pan out and exceed expectations. This is why I withhold judgement on his offseason decisions until we're at least halfway through the season. His moves are often of the "wait and see" variety.
Morey is pretty damn good, but I do agree that some people here think that he pull off impossible trades at a drop of a dime. Either way I trust him to put this team in the right direction. P.S can we please stop the "Get it done Morey" phrase, it's starting to get annoying.
Yes, yes. Morey is Great. Point is: How many people are going to be upset if he can't pull off one of his magic moves this off season?
Judging by that trade, it had Morey all over it, Morey like college players with big numbers like Brooks, Landry, Dorsey, and Taylor. Rudy Gay did not get big numbers in college because he was playing with 3 other NBA talent players. This truly was his only mistake as a GM, but you may excuse him from this one since he was suppose to be the assistant GM at the time. But this is all Morey, CD was basically letting Morey take over as GM at that point anyway. But this one mistake may have cost us a lot more than you think
Wouldnt that be nice to have someone that can create and score points, with future all-star talent. He is also on a rook contract.
Yeah the Grizzle have really benefited from those talents. Their's more to putting together a winning roster then just getting guys who put up nice numbers.
