Hopefully it gives him something to work on during the off-season. But yea, it's suboptimal.

I would love to see the transformation of McCullers from a starter to a bullpen arm.

I don't think he has the arm to give you 200IP a year, and he does have the arm to ramp it up to 98-100 for a few innings.

He looks bad out there, but better than Aoki, Beltran, and Maybin. Really need Marisnick's bat back in the lineup.

No thanks. Lance needs to learn how to be an efficient pitcher, not simply pitch less. I'm really excited when I see Verlander sitting next to LMJ in the dugout. Verlander can impart some old man wisdom on how to pitch without his best stuff (e.g. his velo drop a few years back) and how tweak his pitches to get cheap contact.

Having a successful veteran like Keuchel in the rotation is clearly useful from the mentorship standpoint, but LMJ and DK couldn't be further apart in pitching styles.

Lance gets two years of a near-prime power pitcher to mentor him; hopefully he uses the info to build durability. He's way more valuable as a starter than even a top flight bullpen option.

Astros are an exception this year

Was hoping they could lead the league in HRs and fewest strikeouts (wonder if that has ever been done), but it looks like they will come up just short on the former

It is what it is. Maybin can't hit. Fisher isn't hitting enough to mask his defense. Gonzalez is worse in LF than Fisher.

Marisnick may not make contact often, but he does make the most of it when he does.

Marisnick allows Gonzalez to play first.

Looks Morton had it working today, maybe his best start. He couldn't throw 4 innings with 80 PC most times this year. He hasn't surrendered more than 2 ER in 5 consecutive starts. Last 2 starts just one run. He's pitching his best going into the playoffs.

Correa showed out with runners on. Please continue into November.

Harris is a lost soul. Was really hoping he'd have a clean inning.

Let's keep winning !!!! Top Seed still possible.

At this point he isn't better than any of those guys. Keep in mind he got off to a really good start. All he really had on those guys is potential.

So easily better than Maybin over that time period and slightly worse than Beltran. Though, Fisher stats are better since July 31st and pretty much every sample size at least one day more than the one you listed since he's been up. Aoki has been good since Aug 1.

it's definitely huge in evaulating him for the postseason IMO

I'm absolutely no fan of Maybin as anything other than the 5th OF, but jettisoning Aoki for Fisher has been an unmitigated disaster. Not sure what Beltran has to do with anything LF related. I expect Marwin to get many innings there in the playoffs, hope his glove is up to it.

Before Aug 1st, .317/.404/.610 (in 11 appearances). WTF happened to him?

Just my observation, but his pitch recognition (one of his supposed strengths) has gone to ****.

Doesn't help Aoki is .357/.400/.643 against us...

For the postseason roster? For the most part. At this point there is only time for 2 starts, so he needs to perform. I still wish we were trying him in the bullpen instead of starting, but hopefully he just shows up dominates and runs straight through the postseason.
