Why aren’t the Rockets after this guy. He played for 3.2 mil last year and we can offer him 5.3. He shot 41% from beyond the arc and fished out 6.6 a game. At 6’6” he can play either guard position, and even slide over to SF when we go small. Plus, he’s a great insurance policy if and when Paul gets injured. Honestly, he’s really the last of the affordable FA’s that could really help the Rockets. So, why is Morey not setting up a Meeting with his agent?
It was reported he signed a 1 year deal with the Pacers for 12 million dollars. Woj hasn’t confirmed though.
OP, to answer your question: 1. He can't shoot. 2. He doesn't play defense. 3. He has a low basketball IQ. 4. He is injury prone. 5. He put up empty stats on a truly pathetic basketball team last season. Don't bother me with his 3-point shooting from last season. He was gunning for a contract. Once the ink is dry, he won't sniff anywhere near 40% from long range again in his career. There may be a reason he's unrestricted and hasn't signed yet.
Probably, because he isn't interested in joining the Rockets. The alternative is that Morey/ TF don't want him.
As proof from the Pacers signing, he was on a below market deal last year and was looking to get paid this year. Houston likely didn't have the money/playing time to entice a guy like that. He would have been a great guy off the bench for us, but he is trying to rehab his image to get one more good contract while he is still in his 20s and he wasn't going to be showcased on this team. Makes more long term sense for him to play well with Indy, make a playoff run, be a more integral part of their roster and test free agency again. He is looking to prove that he is worth more than a bench role/good player on a bad contract. Can't say I blame him - gotta do what is best for your career.
If he goes to IND, they look to be really good IMO... Could be a top 3 seed next year. Dare I say, ECF contenders?
That's not saying much... there's Boston and Philly and that's it. We need conference relegation... just like in soccer.
Philly can get got. I guess people seem to forget that they took the Cavs 7... took a god performance from Lebron and some poor shooting from IND to lose out on advancing.
Dear Inchan, I agree fully, relegation would be interesting. With a minor league, not a second G League.
And it's a deterrent to tanking... and still enforce salary cap/minimum rules... and honor contracts. It would be quite embarrassing for the owners and the players stuck on the relegated team.
not this again. Raptors? how many more years do people need. no moves made still. got rid of their coy as a scapegoat. still the same pretenders as of right now
