When your best player doesn't play with effort on both ends, it trickles down to other players. Harden's been silverspooned by Morey & this organization and now nobody wants to tell his effort is unacceptable. Somebody needs to explain he needs to impact the game in more ways than scoring.
We saw this with McGrady during Artest's first year here. The team sucked when he played and was great when he didn't. It was a blessing when he got shelved for the year.
But he never plays D the way Lebron does.. Bron can guard 1 to 5, that is a ridiculous talent that very few can achieve
we're 4-6 and losing to scrub teams. if the level-headed op think others are overreacting, i wonder if he'd care to demonstrate what should the "right" reaction from the fans then. care to elaborate? shall we just watch this and keep silent?
I think we as fans are reacting (some of us after the first 3 losses, myself included) because no team has ever lost the first 3 games of the season by 20. And with the exception of GSW, they were bad teams. Whether this reaction is an overreaction remains to be seen. Maintaining a zen like perspective is always tricky when your team have retained their core (Harden, Howard, Ariza, Beverley) and are underperforming the way they are. OP: Don't get us wrong, we REALLY love our Rockets. But put it this way, if your kid pooed all over the car seat, then did it again, and again and again... Would you tell her nicely, or would you tell her off? And in telling her off would you be throwing her under the bus? Or trying to prepare her for life? There is a time to be stern as fans, and that time is now. Harden should know we all are rooting for him to get his game back together. But having an off shooting night is one thing. Not trying on defense is another.
You do realize this is what Morey does right? Well not box score, but his analytics pages. He doesn't watch the game much.
Easy for Miami to still make the playoffs with a good seed in the EAST. Too bad we're in the West where a couple games means having top couple seeds and not even being in the playoffs.
Normally I would agree, but the lack of effort has been appalling. It honestly looks like they WANT McHale fired, not that I think they want that at all. In fact, I worry they would be adamant about keeping him. McHale has not been a terrible coach, despite what many say. But he has flaws. And I don't think he is the right coach for this team right now.
This dumb thread needs to be closed especially after we keep losing games. 4-6 is a great reason to panic when your losing to trash teams and giving up 105 points a game.
The Rockets now are what the Astros were from right after firing Larry Dierker to just recently: a team with talented players who were consistently underperforming. They also had a bunch of limp-dick coaches that entire time. Never was a coincidence in my mind. And I don't count that World Series appearance; that was such a ridiculous combination of events to get there, and then, when finally faced with the best team in the other league, they got swept. Then they fell HARD. Been watching the Rockets make the same mistakes consistently for 3 years now. Turnovers, abysmal free throw percentages, having their heads up their asses for half the game, losing huge leads, etc. Ask yourself: can you EVER predict that the Rockets will win a game? I can't. They win games in the most unpredictable ways. The WCF appearance last year was an amazing fluke much like the Astros' World Series appearance. A team that can play so haphazardly and still win games like last year is a team that could run the table if they'd just not play haphazardly. But now, their good grace has dried up and everything's being laid bare. This is not a fluke of bad play. This is the core of the Rockets unshielded by the flukes of their recent success. Something has got to be done at all levels. This team has no chance of ever taking a championship.
Please don't compare Lebron with Harden hahahahahahaha You are the most delusional Harden homer going around.
the miami heat comparison isnt about the teams or individuals being equally talented, because they obviously are not. its about how both teams had a ball dominant player and added another ball dominant player and struggled to make it work. both came out of the gate far below expectations. obviously everything is scaled up on the heat side of the comparison. they were more talented, expected by some to win 73 games in the first season and go on to numerous championships, an instant dynasty. so the 9-8 record in that context was a rude awakening. it turns out maximizing your talent is not easy and the heat never really reached their potential. hopefully the rockets can reach their humbler goal of being a competitive playoff team who contends for a championship. so far its gone really badly yes, but the point of the heat comparison is to show that its not easy and its not fair to make judgment about how the season will end at this point.
what an ignorant post. You think that Morey doesn't watch the games? You think he simply has some analytics and doesn't look at the team on the court and their perfomances?
So what about the twitter guys who aren't fans going off about hardens effort? Are they overreacting also? If you're watching the games we look a mess. This isn't just bad shooting nights or implementing new guys. If you want to be technical Thornton has been just fine. Fans usually overreact.. This isn't one of those times
I think Harden really has to take some of the blame from a leadership perspective, he came into this season playing horribly on both ends of the court. He was not focused and not thinking like a champion - he really screwed up.
