As everyone probably knows, Morey and Bill Simmons are buddies. They go way back. Morey came on his podcast once before, and it was terrific. Great chemistry, good gossip, fun anecdotes.

Now he's on again. (I haven't listened yet.) From a Simmons tweet:

"BS Report: @dmorey emerges from Dork Graceland to talk trades, T-Mac, Sloan Conference & more. http://tinyurl.com/yb6n4lj"

On the ESPN page it says: "Bill Simmons talks with Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey about the Rockets' moves at the trade deadline, the outlook for the team this season and beyond and more."

    Link.

Can't listen until I get home from work. Wouldn't be too suprised that Morey is at least not too distressed about the possility of missing the playoffs.

During the post-trade talks, Morey has stated that he thought making playoffs is tough both with or without the trade. He knows how good the west is and given the recent struggles of the team and where the team sits in standings, the playoffs is at best a 50/50 proposition. Having to put a few new players in the rotation, while replacing the team's most efficient scorer has got to hurt, too, at least in the short run, and there's less than 30 games to go in the season.

This is not to say that the Rockets are tanking. I expect them to just play out the season the best they can-- meaning trying to win every game, and whatever happens, happens. Frankly, every rotation player on this team is either under contract next year, or expected to be back (Lowry/Scola?). This is a team that is trying to make a serious run next year, not developing for 4-5 years down the road like the Kings are. So, I think they want to see if any and all of the guys can play winning ball, not just work on developing the 23 and under crowd.

Simmons "T-mac looked really good, did you know that he was still at that level?... like how did it get to the point that that guy wasn't even in the city with you?"

Morey "Well I think there was always a shot he could make us look bad, I siad that throughout"

Morey just compared Martin to Reggie Miller- a "championship caliber two-guard".

And I thought I couldn't like DM more than I did already. Reggie was by far my favorite non-Rocket player of all time.

Thanks for posting this. I love the end when BS is saying Morey should be the one to represent the Rockets at the lottery drawing if we don't make the playoffs, eating a sandwich like he doesn't even care
