My six-year-old Panasonic plasma in the mancave gave out about a month ago and with football season quickly approaching, I need to get it fixed. Anyone know of a place they'd recommend, preferably on the westside? Per the Googles, it seems like an easy enough fix for anyone who has any idea how to do that, which I do not. Gracias.

So your mancave TV tanked right before the Texans' preseason.

hmmmm. Maybe it just doesn't want to go through another season.

It was actually the day of the World Cup finals. Maybe it thinks soccer sucks.

Hold on a second,,,you were watching WC finals on your mancave TV, when it quit on you?

No US repairman will be able to help you. You probably need to seek out a German repairman, or a Gypsy of some sort to exorcize the TV from its soccer memory banks.

    I'm guessing your joking?

Yes, I was joking. Sorry! My late father could have repaired it, whatever the problem might be. He was a department chair at a major Houston university for over 30 years and hated it when friends would ask him to fix their TV's and radios. He was too busy learning how to teach about computer technology back when they filled a room. ;-)-

In all seriousness, if your "googles" and this thread don't deliver, I'd try the craigslist handyman area and post there

There is a great place off I-10 and Heights Blvd. on the N side of the intersection. I will try to see if I can find the name. They fixed my panty plasma

Nobody fixes cheap chinese electronics anymore. It cost more to crack it open that it does to replace it. Six years old is ancient.

What's the budget to fix it? You may want to look into getting something new. Depending on the size, Vizio E series might be a better route. Vizio TV's have come a loooong way since they first came out.

I think with how cheap new TV's are, you could just buy a whole new set for not much more than it will cost to fix this one. That's the route I would look. It rarely makes sense to repair an electronic these days, unless it is under a year or two old.

Think the name was APM electronics. It took 3 weeks or so but they fixed the power source in my Panny plasma. Was around $300 if I recall correctly.

Yup, that's typically the price I've seen online when I was researching what the root cause was. Thanks again for the help.
