Just hit AP, and I had heard it was good so started to watch it as I had never seen it. HOLY COW it is great - am about 10 episodes into season 1, and love it. Anyone else watch Justified? Does it hold up over the 5 seasons? DD
I watched the first season on iTunes and kept rewinding and watching the bank robbery scene where Boyd was the wheelman, I can't think of any other series where I remember the exact moment when I got into it. The series get better, especially if you just take every season as a separate story or just like Olyphant and realize that's the best work he'll probably ever get. I never watched Deadwood, but was a fan of his since Go and Girl Next Door. The in-scene dialogue and single-season or even single-episode character development is amazing, even into the last season. It might be the only crime show, or at least the only one I've seen, that expands the emotional and strategic arcs beyond just a main cop, his perp and their respective crews. For my money season two is the best, or at least improves and expands perfectly on season one; and season four is the only other one I remember vividly until the last one.
It's a wonderful series. Great dialogue. Season 1 was very episodic whereas the rest of the seasons are more serialized.
The first season, outside of episode 1 and then toward the end, is kind of a "******* of the week" deal, but it sets up everything else so beautifully. Season 2+ is amazing.
thx guys. Looks like I have another one for the list. btw: since I got all my favorite TV reviewers in one place, anyone ever seen Humans, a BBC series. Comes highly recommended from a friend who is hit and miss on recommendations. He says it's the best thing on BBC right now. tia
Actually 6 seasons. Season 5 was weak. All of the others were pretty strong. The cast interaction was well written and performed.
To me, it got a little repetitive after the Oxycontin season with Jeremy Davies. It wasn't bad, they just kind of were treading water after that point to me.
The "Haitian" was supposed to be the bad guy that season, but the actor decided after 2 episodes that he didn't want to be on the show anymore, so the had to kill him off early. And thus.....Michael Rappaport.
Gets better every season imo, would've liked more seasons (although they ended it at the top quality-wise, so that's a plus).
Season 5 was disappointing, but it served to move the pieces for season 6. I'd rather just have an extended final season than the filler that season 5 was.
