stand alone pretty much. Any connections to previous seasons would be extremely loose and irrelevant.

here's hoping she gets a musical number

And McGregor's reaction was hilarious. Goes along with what the other poster above said. His performances are pretty understated, but they are pretty much always perfect.

At first I kind of agreed that it was a distraction having him play two characters...but now I realize it's probably worth it to get double the amount of Ewan McGregor in the series.

Also, his sidekick played by Michael Stuhlbarg has been great so far too.

Stand alone but you should watch season one anyway, Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman are magnificent in it

Exactly. Rewatch it because it's great.

Did the story pick up over these last two episodes? Loved the first seasons, but nearly fell asleep when watching episode 1 of this season.

Will rewatch, usually have no issues with slow-paced shows (Saul, beginning of Wire etc), but that first episode seemed brutal to me (maybe wasn't in the mood that day).

Malvo was the best thing ever. So good in fact that there's no way that any other season of Fargo can match season 1. Season 2 definitely lacked something.

Him and Martin Freeman are two of my favourite actors, matching their performances and that plot is almost impossible.

You all missed out on the lovely lady Molly Solverson. Houston's own Allison Tolman. Rising sunshine/talent of course.

Emmy and Golden Globe nomination apiece.

She's a great actor, didn't like that character too much though.

The small time snooping detective that goes against all odds, connecting the dots.

That is a Fargo characteristic. This season.

    Yep...the fargo formula
    1.) small-town folksy cop
2.) over the top bad guys
3.) and thrown in some civilians that get caught up in the whole thing
4.) then, of course...snow...lots of snow

    Grotesque side characters. Monty Python-esque.

Didnt miss her, just wasn't really all that interested in her character. She was consistently ineffectual in anything she did (although not entirely her fault because her boss was a dimbulb and coward), and at no point did I feel her character was going to be in any danger. Although she was a main character, most of the other characters and even the side characters who showed up outshined her. She was just kind of boring in comparison.

Ehhhh, maybe I like characters who actually get things done. And to say that I have bad taste just because I expressed a dissenting opinion is an overreach and a bit douchey. If you don't like my opinion, break down my argument with logic and reason, or tell me the things about her that worked for you. Don't be juvenile with trite comments like, "hurrduur you have bad taste." In any case, she might work for you and thats fine. But she doesn't work for me and thats fine too.
