Opinions? Have it down to the following:

    Lexus RX 350
    Mercedes GLE
    BMW X5
    Nissan Murano

Looking for safety first and foremost. Baby on the way!

    Thanks for the advice!

Why not ask her what *she* would want?

If safety is your top concern the Lexus IS the way to go or check out a Volvo xc60. Volvo’s aren’t the flashiest car but when it comes to safety they are insane.

BMWs and Mercedes are good cars but I wouldn’t drive one after the warranty. Lexus and Volvo are both more dependable, although things could have changed in the last 8 years since I was in the industry.

Subaru ForesterI: It'sperfect for old people and very safe. Look into the2019 model that just released in October. You can get all the technology assists and convenience options for $33k. 4wd is obviously not necessary for Houston, but the mileage is still very good. If the CRV is overall best in class for reasonably priced sub-compact SUV, the Forester is right behind it but better looking.

If you're sticking to your list, Lexus is probably the best there.

The new Forester looks like it rides higher. I would look at the Ascent instead.

I’m a fan of the Volvo, the 90 or the 60, depending on which size best suits your needs.

Of your list, I’d go with the X5

Yeah, we’ve had the Volvo XC90 for about a year and a half and love it. The technology is really great and you don’t get safer than Volvo.

Go with a 1999 civic and never look back. She'll give you an XJ to thank you.

within a few months I will move closer to Juneau, Alaska. I narrowed my choices between cx9 ( the best looks)
, Highlander (most robust/ground clearance) and Santa Fe new diesel engine( mileage range)

I think researching this yourself, is the best method. Unless a CFer has had all four SUVs at the same time and have driven them long enough to accurately measure the safety of each, there's no reason to ask here.

I'd go with the Volvo XC60.

If you're not into luxury, I'd go with the new RAV4 or the Outback or Forester.

I’m asking because there may be 4 CFers who have each vehicle. I have already done a lot of research and quite honestly they all seem to be the same when it comes to rankings. I disagree with you that there is no reason to ask here. If it bothers you so much there is no need to reply here.
