Trump's executive orders on the payroll tax, unemployment, and other matters raising an important question that I am surprised isn't being debated on here. If a president that spend money freely through executive order and set taxes through executive order - what purpose does Congress serve? https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...ngress-with-new-executive-actions/ar-BB17JjQI
We don’t get many hurricanes here in CA (do have wildfires and earthquakes), so hope nothing happens to y’all in Houston.
I agree. The GOP doesn't do anything that isn't calculated to maintain power. The Senators and Congressmen get to go home and campaign on fiscal responsibility (paying people more to stay home than work!) while letting Trump look like the hero of the working class. And the big bonus is damaging the Social Security system so they can claim "socialism doesn't work". The fact is, saving people from mass bankruptcies and evictions also saves corporate capitalism from collapse. Banks, corporate debt obligations, mortgage holders, public bond holders all are faced with the same dilemma as the simple apartment dweller if the money stops flowing.
Trump on how much he hated, or used to hate executive orders before he became president. Of note is Obama and previous president usage of EO actually did something. Trump EO are an attempt to push at limit that are usually unconstitutional or impossible to implement - so it might make him feel good and perhaps his supporters a little bit happy for a short period of time but it doesn’t do much of anything outside of that.
