Yep. No reason for the media to quote anything he says out of context when he says so many terrible things in context.
It's not even that hard to fact check this. Just rewind the video a couple minutes back. So, why lie? Could it be that the media is targeting Trump? Is the media deliberately lying to us? Does that make the media our enemy?
Its important to know the context was talking about MS-13, but it's not clear who is talking about in his quote. The process he describes -- people coming in, getting caught, and coming right back -- is not a practice unique to MS-13. Nor is enforcement only applied to MS-13. So, I wouldn't say it is wrong for someone to understand his "animals" to apply to something broader than MS-13. In any case, I'd rather he didn't describe gang members as animals either. Dehumanizing language is used to whitewash inhumane treatment. Separate young children from their mothers? Why not, they're just criminals or animals anyway. Trumpers have elevated the moral severity of illegal immigration out of all proportion to its actual impact on our society. Trump's focus on MS-13 and the way he dehumanizes them is intended to defame illegal immigrants and illegal immigration more widely so that he can be justified and excused for taking draconian policy and enforcement positions that well meaning Americans would ordinarily object to. So he should be called on it. Don't call people animals.
Agreed. And what % is MS-13 as a % of the larger population of immigrants? Yet we know that compared to the larger population as a whole, the immigration is associated with lower crime rates and immigrants are less likely than the native-born to be serious criminals. Yet, trump's efforts to conflare immigrants and criminal elements like MS-13 is simply a ruse to push for his vanity wall.
To be fair, Brett Baier does appear to try to be an honest journalist. But at the end of the day you have to look at the place where you work and ask yourself are you proud of what you do and the company that employs you? And... what your family and friends must think...

It's all too clear that MSM is targeting Trump. How many times have they taken what Trump has said out of context or refused to fact check stories on Trump? Journalism is dead.
So, calling one person an animal who has done actions to warrant that isn't a problem. Lumping a whole group of people together and trying to dehumanize them by calling animals is correctly lambasted.
