I think many expected this a couple of months ago when Paul Manafort came on board the Trump Train. So I view this more as a delayed reaction.

However, there is no doubt that the media is united in their attempts to 1) Pump up Obama's favorables, which make him useful in the General Election; 2) Tear down trump by accusing him of racism; and 3) Gloss over Hillary's issues with ethics, corruption, and compliance with laws. Trump needs to change his strategy, like any good businessman faced with headwinds. Trump has continued to play to his base over the past month, which was not effective. He needs to be going to the black and Mexican communities to try to win new votes instead of playing to his base. Hillary is vulnerable in the black community, given how terrible blacks have fared under Obama and the fact that black turnout will undoubtedly be lower without Obama on the ticket. This is a real opportunity to either pick up votes or lower the tally for Hillary by getting those voters to the indifference point. Trump also needs to make a play for the non-interventionist foreign policy crowd (Hillary never met a war she didn't like).

If Trump can represent the lower taxes, don't police the world, middle-of-the-road social policies, and right of center fiscal/regulatory policies, he can win. But he needs a new campaign manager to steer him in this direction.

Sounds a lot like Gary Johnson.
