Does anyone know if the Rockets made an offer to Troy Williams? With Minnesota and other teams offering him a contract and especially, since the Spurs lost J. Simmons, the Rockets need to lock him up quick. I'm thinking 2yr/ $6M -$8M?
Troy Williams and Bobby Brown will both be good picks up for depth and insurance I can actually see Williams taking dekkers role/minutes
Would have liked to have picked up J Simmons. Was impressed with his tenacious defense and some of his clutch shots against us in the playoffs last year (not to mention he's from Houston). But he's more of a G/F. Since he's no longer available, Troy would be good insurance at the F spot. Hopefully he can recapture his 3 point shot. He lost it after that first game he played with us last year.
He's widely inconsistent. His shot looks like he throws up prayers at the basket. He's a glorified Corey Brewer, out of control, low basketball iq. He won't play all the minutes he had in summer league to work through his mistakes during the regular season. Would rather go with someone more consistent and smarter as added depth to the bench.
If he commands 3-4 MM a year, let him walk. He's a solid player. He's a 10th man in the rotation, spot minutes on a back to back that can help our swingman get some more rest. Nothing more. Maybe in the rotation when an injury happens, but 10-15mpg.
