Troy Aikman just claimed Miles Austin is best wide receiver in NFL! Pure homer talk?!

In the Minnesota vs Dallas game, Aikman just went crazy homer and said that Miles Austin is the best WR in the game, and the only one that comes close to him is Andre Johnson! Austin has one good year, and he is apparently the best in the game. Aikman is even a bigger homer than I thought he was! Thoughts!

Hes what Steve Tasker is to the Chiefs...a 100% Dallas homer. I couldn't stand listening to him call our game and also Joe Buck be up the Cowboys ass as well so he could be Troy Aikmans ass at the sametime

I'm sure homerism has something to do with it, but his claim isn't completely outlandish. I think most would agree that Andre Johnson is the best receiver in the NFL, but if you had to make a list of receivers that rank right behind him, the list would begin with either Larry Fitzgerald or Miles Austin.

They should not let former players announce for their team's games. I remember his blind homerism when he announced for the Texans/Cowgirls game. In summary, the answer to your thread title is an obvious yes. Week after week the announcers (except Aikman of course) are saying Johnson is the number 1 receiver.

    Idiot for sure

I'll take Andre Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Randy Moss, Brandon Marshall, and Reggie Wayne over Miles Austin any day of the week.

Hell, he was shut down by the Texans secondary, you can't be too good if that happens to you

Honestly, it doesn't bother me at all. Analysts state opinions that people disagree with all the time in every sport.

I'm just glad we have Andre Johnson. I'm content with that.

Sunday's game against Tennessee was the 16th for Austin since he became a focal point of the Cowboys' passing offense, and his statistics are staggering:

    107 catches

    1,713 yards

    12 touchdowns

In a single season, no Cowboys receiver had more yards. Only four have had more in a season in league history. In Cowboys history, only Michael Irvin had more catches (111 in 1995), and only Terrell Owens, Frank Clarke and Bob Hayes had more touchdowns.

If Austin isn't the best, he's top 3.

That's a dumb statement. And Oswalt was traded.

Horsecrap. 1 year of productivity does not make you the best of anything.

Miles Austin is top 5 material, but not top 3. AJ sitting at the top of course. I can't see Miles Austin doing anything like this anytime soon.
