[Training Staff Appreciation Thread] How the Rockets got Dwight ready for G2

I thought this deserved it's own thread, since it really shows a good break down of what the staff does for the players. After all the bashing they get, it's good to see some actual details of the process and what they're working with. They did a great job of making sure Dwight's knee was in the best condition possible for game 2.

Therapy began immediately after the game, before the team would even board the bus back to San Francisco. With roughly 45 hours between the end of one game and start of the other, therapy sessions were set up for every three hours, lasting an hour each, not including the manual therapy and the twice-daily laser therapy administered by trainers.

Along with the electronic stimulation device, Howard was fitted with an ice compression sleeve, also going through that therapy for an hour every three hours.

“Right after the game, I called one of my interns (Justin Pomar) back in Houston,” Biles said. “We always keep several types of braces. We had the right brace Dwight would need in a couple different sizes. One of them worked.”

The brace was shipped from Houston and arrived in time for Thursday’s pregame shootaround.

Along the way, Biles and his staff added manual therapy, soft tissue techniques to restore mobility that have continued since. Howard got through the shootaround workout well, but the Rockets did not know how the knee would respond until shortly before the game when Biles put him through one last series of tests.

I was quite shocked to see Dwight came back to play in Game 2 very effectively. In Game 1 he could barely move.
