This is what I was thinking about. The licensing costs for this movie must have been HUGE, when you consider all the different properties included.
Just saw this tonight with a few friends. It wasn't bad, but I don't know if it was all the critics hyped it up to be. I must say that it is weird not being the target demographic for a film. For those of you with kids, is the symbolism usually so overt? I get that kids can't pick it up as well as adults, but it seemed too explain it a little much. Give the kids a little credit (or maybe I'm overestimating their abilities I don't know).

It looks like it will be an interesting take on Batman, which will probably make it at least worth a watch- focusing more on his lack of family than actual action or superhero stuff (which makes sense given it's a movie made of legos).

Years late review: Lego Movie was surprisingly entertaining. I actually didnt take to it at the beginning. I agree with a previous poster that the pace was too fast and too much snarky gibberish dialogue, and lots of "pop culture is cool" references where it almost was cliche. BUT, then the movie format is GENIUS, because the entire premise is its all coming from the mind of a young kid. It gives itself TOTAL license to just toss in WHATEVER in ANY A.D.D. randomized form, just like how a kid thinks. Understand that, and really the movie can't lose. Add in the message, and catchy song, and its a cleverly done movie using the familiar names in a good way.
Saw the sneak peak on Chris Pratt's instagram last night. Looks pretty entertaining and my kids will love this one too. I think the little one wants this to be a Batman Lego Movie sequel more than anything, but at least he's still in it.
I definitely loved the first one, as it was surprisingly fresh and clever with a nice little twist at the end. Lego Batman movie I didn't enjoy too much, and didn't bother with Lego Ninjago. Felt like they were milking the concept and it just didn't have the same appeal. But a sequel to Lego Movie? I'm down.
