If you want Ensberg traded, do you want to just do it now and take whatever you can get or give him some at bats and hope he gets decent enough to get some real value back for him.

Right now we have Loretta and Lamb as better options for Left and Right handers. Be nice to get a better backup OF or a good prospect.

Knowing the Astros, they'll wait for him to play better to raise his trade value. But then they'll decide that he's back and end up not trading him after all.

It looks like he's actually been swinging at pitches the last couple of games... I would see what he does over the next month.

I cant believe they passed on that trade a few years ago. Man that would be a great lineup.

    Biggio
    Lamb
    Berkman
    Lee
    Tejada
    Pence
    Scott
    Ausmus

If his stock goes up, why would you want to trade him? This line of reasoning has never made sense to me, unless we think somehow a hot few weeks will fool teams with multi-million dollar scouting budgets into thinking a player is good while us fans know better.

People said the same about Lidge after a few good weeks.

Whatever, it was close to happening nonetheless. The astros should have done something to make it happen

What could the Astros have done? Baltimore and Tejada nixed the deal.

And I'm sure if the team offered more, people would be screaming we gave up too much, ala the Jennings deal.

Why trade Ensberg now when he has no value at all...if he can turn it around it would be in the team's best interest...see Lidge.

if miggy was traded here, I don't think we would have signed Lee.

I'm sure that if Ensberg starts to produce that he'll draw interest from other teams. Whether or not the Astros get back anything noteworthy back in a trade is another thing. I really cannot see another major league team giving up a promising prospect or pitcher for a 3rd baseman that has a $5 miilion dollar salary and whose production is suspect at times.

I wish his value would go up, but if he is given any playing time, it will hurt the astros too much.

i don't believe there's a market for him. richard justice (for whatever it's worth) said they have tried to trade ensberg recently, and there is absolutely no market.

The Astros did everything they could to complete that trade. The problem was with Baltimore, they have like four or five GMs and their owner is very hard to deal with. It was baltimore that pulled out after the Astros and Orioles had an agreed upon deal.
