Bryan is an idiot... He FAILED in getting Bosh an adequate center. Jermaine O'Neal and Bargnani is NOT getting it done... TJ Ford and Jose Calderon is NOT getting it done. Anthony Parker and Hedo Turkoglu is NOT getting it done. The GM failed, Chris Bosh was just fine. You surround a finesse PF with soft players, You will fail...
How many centers are there in the NBA willing to play in Toronto? Which player could they have taken in drafts to make that work? In the year they had the #1 pick, their alternative was Aldridge, who's basically the same as Barganani except a bit better all-around. Granted, in hindsight they should've taken Roy, but it wasn't like they keep passing on star big men every year. Colangelo's most idiotic move was NOT to trade Bosh to Houston at the trade deadline. Morey was on record to say the Rockets wouldn't even need Bosh's extension. Colangelo could've made a killing from us and absolved all sins of Bosh leaving a bitter taste to the city. Thankfully though, he wasn't smart enough. Morey did dodge a bullet when he didn't expect player collusion on that level.
He certainly did fail. Still, Bosh just as clearly did mail it in the second half of the season. And just as clearly had his trio with lebron planned for ages. The first is the bigger sin, and the one which allows raptors fans to boo him often and frequently. The second, colangelos fault for not trading him... Still, like lebron, has a bitter taste to it.
And the article in Yahoo! Ball Dont Lie, commented by Trey Kerby: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ba...t=ArHzQgI3sAx0BsP9SzomGyy8vLYF?urn=nba-258454
All they needed was an Emeka Okafor, Tyson Chandler, Samuel Dalembert, Roy Hibbert... Anyone!!! They just need to get bigger, tougher, and more physical. Hell Joey Dorsey would have helped. Chuck Hayes would have helped a ton. You can't start TWO soft PF's...They need JVG to whip them into shape...
Just because it may be true doesn't mean it needs to be said. Toronto and Cleveland are two markets who already have to fight off a ton of negative perceptions from players, and they really aren't doing themselves any favours by badmouthing people after they leave.
Toronto is aware that it is one of the absolute worst FA destinations for above average players. Colangelo's principle vision since coming on as GM was to not chase elite American players and focus on building with foreign players. Americans want to be in the US. Foreign players don't care if they're in the US or Canada, it's a different country either way. If he's made a mistake, it's been paying top foreign talent as if they were top American talent (drafting Bargnani #1, overpaying Hedo, taking on Calderon and Barbosa at a combined $16M next year, etc. And as others have said, this may be the wimpiest team in the league. There hasn't been a guy that can bang on this roster since they had Oakley and Antonio Davis forever ago. Evan
Maybe the Raptors should just move to the US like the Grizzlies did. Canada is just not a good soil for pro basketball.
