If McGrady is honored w/ a sign & trade by the Raptors, they very well may acquire PJ Brown.

    Which tallies:
    1) PJ Brown
    2) A. Davis
    3) Charles Oakley.

    at the #4 slot

Before we all rant and rave about PJ Brown or Charles Oakley going to the Lakers in some swap from the Raptors... ask yourself... if you're the Raptors do you want both V. Carter and G. Rice playing at the same time?

Who else can put together a great trade? NY? Portland? NY would never be involved in a three way in a Miami Heat trade. Portland doesn't want 4s for 4s sake... they're trying to keep Briant Grant out of LAL... if he's retained then the subject is moot.

The Pacers could try to reacquire A. Davis, but he seemed pretty distraught over the trade (very).

The Suns have athletic bodies such as Marion, but they're pretty stacked in financial responsibility at the 4 as well.

The Magic always seem to have trades lined up even with teams that spurned them the night before... so they could do something here.... Dallas is also a possibility.

Hmmmm.... do the Rockets have anything significant to put together for a strong rebounder/picker such as A. Davis (keep old man time off of the Rockets) or PJ Brown?

Walt Williams (and perhaps a pick) would allow Carter to move over to the 2, and his contract would fit. Also, this would allow Kobe Langhi to start at the #3. If we got spry, we could also perhaps buy Glen Robinson from the Bucks in some icky move (that way we can remember Walt through Robinson's prosthetic leg-sock style) giving a lineup such as the following:

    C - Kelvin Cato
PF - PJ Brown or A. Davis
SF - Glen Robinson (yecch, make this Langhi)
    SG - Shandon Anderson
    PG - Steve Francis

Now that... is a starting lineup.

NBAtalk says a sign and trade to MIAMI of McGrady for Brown/Carter is in place. !!!!!

    Toronto is short a SF....

What's better, is that both Brown and Davis' salaries are close to Walt's.

How would we get Robinson though? I thought it'd be for Cato?

Other things that this TMac deal affects-That threw off the Bulls whole J. O'Neal/Tim Thomas/TMac theory, now, do they really want the other 2? Could that open the door for a trade of Cato to Chicago?

    NIKE,

NBATalk mentions 'salary cap concerns' in getting the deal done. Enter... a third team, preferably one with an exception... preferably the Rockets.

Either one of these C/PF combos is appealing:

    C - Kelvin Cato
    PF - Antonio Davis

    -or-

    C - Kelvin Cato
    PF - PJ Brown

Wake up Rockets! There are scraps to get!

p.s. Was there really a Glen R. thing? I was just postulating since the Bucks are stacked, and will be price wise, at the #3.

    nooooooo:

The Raptors and Heat are dealing with the Raptors abundance at the #4 themselves:

    from http://espn.go.com/nba/index.html
The Raptors and Heat are discussing a deal that would send McGrady, forward-center Antonio Davis and guard Alvin Williams to the Heat for forwards P.J. Brown, Jamaal Mashburn and Clarence Weatherspoon, and guard Rodney Buford.

The story is Anthony Carter and PJ Brown for T Mac.

That has got to be the absolute best possible scenario that Toronto could have envisioned out of losing Tracy!

Makes you almost wonder if this were a true win-win trade situation, for a change.

Isn't Alvin Williams one of the reasons Cuttino is considering Toronto? If they trade him we get a better chance.

Also, did anyone notice that ESPN's rumor mill listed Houston and Portland?! as Cat's two biggest options?

Keon Clark peaks my interest. Cheap contract, through the roof athleticism. Here's my latest dreamcasting ideal scenario:
    1. Resign Mobley
    2. Trade Cato/Rogers for Fizer/Hawkins
    3. Trade KT/Drew/Walt for Clark/Stith/future 2nd rounder

#3, I'm not sure on, as Stith is basically a super overpriced scrub, but that might be the only way to get Clark, that'd leave us with this team:
    Hakeem/Clark/{Collier}
    Fizer/{Collier}
    Shandon/Langhi/Bullard
    Mobley/Stith/Hawkins
    Francis/Moochie

Not too shabby IMO. Would open a nice door for Rashard Lewis to come in, and bump Shandon back to SG, with Mobley off the bench.

Finally someone who understands that Mobley and Anderson will both start.

    I don't know much about Clark, what's his height/weight/skills?

6'11'' 230 lb. PF/C. Super fluid athlete. Good shot blocker, very much like Cato, except a little thinner, and maybe a little longer. 25 years old.

I'm not sold both Shandon and Cat will start just yet, but, in my scenario, there's no one better at SF.

So which is a better deal

PJ Brown and Anthony Carter for McGrady

    or

Brown, Mashburn, Weatherspoon and Buford for Antonio Davis and MCgrady.

For me the raptors would be better off keeping Antonio Davis and maybe go for Mashburn and Carter.

    Smeg,

The second option gives Toronto amazing depth. However, their point guard needs are not addressed.

    Achebe,

Thats why i say they should go for

    Carter and Mashburn for McGrady

That would give them a line-up of
    Willis
    Davis
    Mash
    Carter
    Carter

Don't forget the Raptors already have 3 power forwards in Davis, Willis and Oak, it's just they have to play one of them at centre, cause of the draft picks they wasted on international project centres.

How could I have forgotten about Willis! I was stuck remembering him carrying Dream's slackness back during the groin injury year (20+ games - whatever injury it was). His little hook was so amazing...

With the news being reported about McGrady and Orlando, it would appear Miami Vice are out of the picture, will be interesteing to see what Pat is willing to give up to get Eddie Jones, cause the hornets don't really need the front court players that Pat appears willing to give up.
