This team needs good 10-man rotations, currently has 5. When your big 5 has bad games or miss the games, another 5 replace them. What if the team keeps Ariza and Moute, then add a MLE player? You have more assets to make good trade.
Check the math - retaining Ariza and Moute would have cost us $20 mil before the luxury tax. If we retain everyone from last year's team(resign Paul and Capela) we pay something like 45 MILLION more for the exact same team that wasn't good enough BEFORE the luxury tax hit. Even the deepest pocket owner would have balked at that. Let's also not forget Ariza and Moute haven't exactly looked very good this year either. We are paying $13 mil in luxury tax this year after replacing Ariza and Moute's $20 mil of contracts with $6mil of money(MCW. Melo, Ennis) and giving Paul and Clint raises. The point is, if we had retained last year's team it's entirely possible we would have been paying a lot more for the team, a lot more in Luxury Tax, AND we would still be underperforming because Ariza and Moute haven't looked as good so far this year.
Funny, I thought we were criticised heavily for our ISO ball last year but now suddenly we shared the ball more? The rest is obvious and no argument there.
I agree. it seems they are stuck in playoff mode where they are JUST going to make the other team switch and then iso to shoot the three or drive to get it in the paint or to an open three for someone else. I thought during the regular season there was far more player and ball movement. Yes, there were many times James and even CP would iso, but there was a lot more movement overall. But Chris Webber last night was spot on, the league has adjusted and are defending them better and attacking the Rockets' switching defense better. Both are affecting their offensive flow and shooting. I still believe they're going to turn it around and be a much better team albeit with a slow start while they try to get Carmelo and other guys on same page, figure out the best rotation (notice MCW isn't playing anymore?) and figure out how to utilize everyone's abilities while adjusting to the league's adjustment to them. They still have too much talent and coaching ability not to turn it around unless it's just a dysfunctional mess behind the scenes which I've heard no inclination. It just reminds me in Morey's early years where they would come in with half a new team and they would start slow and then would be the hottest team by all-star break. We just need to push through these rough times (and hope the players keep their poise and do the same) and we'll see a MUCH better team in a month or two. Book it!
Just months ago I had dreams of the Rockets, Astros, and Texans all winning a title and having an MVP... we were a couple quarters away from have 4 out of 6. Then Houston sports happened....
Big suggestion to only support with an ellipsis.... How would letting Capela walk have improved this years situation?
5? Atm we don’t really have 5 playing good basketball. Pj Tucker, Clark and Harden (in offense) are the only ones doing ok. Ennis is okay but not great Cp3 is subpar hasn’t shot well and can’t score anywhere. No 3pts not in the paint or mid range. Capela is playing like crap Melo —-meh low only play okay like in two games. Green can’t shoot or make any 3s Eric can’t score or shoot 3s Hartestein just makes dumb mistakes in offense n defense. MWC smh good thing he got benched. Nene not even playing. Chriss didn’t work Knight is hurt n who knows So far only 3 players We need to make some moves. ASAP if possible but even if we wait til the trade deadline I’m sure we will fix this before the playoffs. Then we could flip the switch and maybe shock the nba well that’s what I’m hoping for. We couldn’t keep Ariza. We could have kept Luc but we were waiting for Melo. So we offer less to him. Ariza will be back. I’m sure cp3 will get off this slump. Once we get rid or move some of these players that aren’t working for some that at least are decent we will improve. I’m sure Chriss, knight, mwc and Eric will be moved.
WE? We ain't paying nothing Ain't no one paying that luxury tax but TILLMAN TILLMAN is a billionaire who said money is no object #RUNITBACK Replacing Luc and Ariza with MCW and telling us #RUNITBACK and Luxury tax is no concern
