http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2011/football/nfl/01/27/titans-jeff-fisher/index.html Would love to know what went on behind the scenes over the last couple of weeks for this to come out all of a sudden. So out of Fisher and Vince, Bud chooses neither.
This is comical now.....who knows whats gonna happen with Vince. Either way the Titans are in big trouble next year, with or without Fisher.
Eh, I dunno. To produce some of the winners he has and keep the team respectable while not having a legitimate QB since Steve Mcnair isn't bad. I don't think he's an elite coach but I think he can win in the right situation for sure. I'm guessing he'll just sit out a year since their are no openings as of now (?).
In 16 years, he won 1 playoff game outside of the Superbowl year. I'm not saying he's a bad coach, but he has that MartyBall problem. His teams play hard and mistake-free, which is great at getting regular season wins, but they struggle & are not dynamic enough to compete with the top teams.
Another team that has set it self back 2 years. Bud can run out his QB and a coach of 17 yrs who took them to the superbowl but the Texans Cannot blow out a Off Coordinator acting as coach It will be very crappy if the Titans have a better record than the Texans Next year!!! Rocket River
I wouldn't put it past Bud to have made this decision weeks ago and held off on the announcement until after all the other HC vacancies had filled.
So, who would be his replacement? Titans have no idea which way they're going. The AFC South really holds on to their coaches though, Del Rio, Kubiak, Fisher (till now), and just Dungy leaving would have been the biggest change.
From the looks of it, I think Fisher resigned or agreed mutually to step down. I don't think he was fired.
make it 2 games. But he's made the playoffs in 4 years out of 10 (AFTER the Super Bowl year, since that's what you chose to evalute). And he won 1 game in 2 of those years, and lost in his 1st game in 2 others. Not as bad a problem as Marty towards the end (made the playoffs 5 times in his last 11 years and won 0 games) Marty overall in the playoffs: 5-13 Fish overall in the playoffs: 5-6
That's crazy, the Titans have no identity now - no Fisher or VY. They're effectively blowing it up and starting over huh?
Fisher deserved to get fired. Bud was smart to get rid of his coach and his QB. Imagine that, an owner who makes his people accountable! What a novel concept that is.
To be fair....I wouldn't use Bud Adams as a good "model" for owners. The dudes nuts. When asked about the report of Fisher leaving, he said: ""Where did you hear that? I better check on that. I can’t talk about it now." " I really can’t talk about it now because I don’t know what’s been said. I want to see what is going on.’’
Funny that Fisher runs a 4-3, but the Texans already picked a 3-4 guy and kept Kubiak. Fisher in Houston again would have been a decent story.
Maybe Fisher joins the CBS pre-game crew haha. He was the NFL's Jerry Sloan anyways, maybe the Titans start playing cleaner football.
Well, there goes that whole idea about Bud choosing Jeff over VY because of money. *edit: nevermind, looks like it is mutual.
