The azaleas are blooming. The greens are fast and firm. Pimento cheese sandwiches have been made. The year's first major has arrived. Will Tiger successfully complete his drive for five green jackets? Will Bubba Watson successfully defend his memorable victory last year? Will Rory McIlroy get one step closer to completing the career grand slam of golf? Will 14 year old Tianlang Guan from China make the cut? It's officially Masters week. I'm going to be glued to my TV/streaming all week. Productivity at work will be at an absolute minimum.
Great writeup on the 14-y/o from China that qualified for the Masters: http://espn.go.com/golf/masters13/story/_/id/9134374/tianlang-guan-14-sits-cusp-masters-history-golf
Do you know what kind of coverage they provide before ESPN coverage starts? Tiger tees off at 7:45am PST tomorrow morning, but ESPN coverage doesn't start until noon...
If this kid wins, tell them not to serve tiger shrimp, where you have to eat the head.... or whatever the hell they eat.
Augusta members trolling hard... the two featured groups that you can follow tomorrow for the whole round on masters.com are: Peter Hanson Charl Schwartzel Webb Simpson K.J. Choi Zach Johnson Graeme McDowell Why the F wouldn't Tiger be in a featured group??? Bastards...
Because Charl Schwartzel has so much appeal! I'm with you. Ratings are going to be through the roof this year solely because of Tiger. I'm still blown away that the entirety of rounds are not televised. Why are the early tee times not available right now online?
I root for Tiger. But I think the expectations are too high. Even at number 1 in the world he would be lucky to win even one grand slam event this year. I hope he does it. But I wouldn't be counting on it. As far as reaching Jack, I think he will, if for no other reason experience will allow him to win a few more, but the caveat to that is the arrival of a next "Tiger" who could eat away at his opportunties. Should be good TV no less and I will be rooting for him.
They keep calling for those that are the next Tiger. Even Rory laughed about it this week. He said something to the effect of "Tiger has 77 PGA victories...I have 6. He has 14 majors...I have 2." In all likelihood, no one will dominate the way Tiger and Jack did for a very long time.
Is there any golfer in the world that you ignore their early round success more than Sergio Garcia? He could shoot -20 today and I'd feel pretty confident that he will not even be on the first page come Sunday.
