    That's a pretty big Woj quote that I bolded.... :cool: inb4 basketballholic says "I've been saying that for years."

    Also, gotta love the enthusiam, but Bobby Marks (see bold part) might have had a few too many beers after a long day at work covering trade deadline news.

    Woj: It'll be interesting with Daryl Morey...you can say Executive of the Year and give it to Bob Myers because they got Kevin Durant. You can make that case. But you look at Daryl Morey's body of work since last summer: hiring Mike D'Antoni, signing Eric Gordon & Ryan Anderson and now bringing in Lou Williams ... what he did moving off KJ McDaniels & Tyler Ennis - you've cleared $3M. They have more money to pay any potential buyouts. The turnaround of that organization & decisions - not just player personnel but pairing up James Harden with Mike D'Antoni ... pretty good Executive of the Year candidate right now.

    Bob Marks: Look where they were a year ago. You fired Kevin McHale in November. J.B. Bickerstaff did a great job holding that group together to get into the playoffs. We didn't know what direction. You could have been critical of the Eric Gordon & Ryan Anderson signing to a point where neither had shown they were healthy in New Orleans.

    Woj: That's what worried me. Yeah, two great shooters but Gordon had so many injuries over the years & managed to stay healthy.

    BM: There is a working relationship with the head coach. You often see the GM go out & makes a trade or drafts a player because he feels it's the right fit. He's not the coach now. If you're looking at Houston, it's almost like Mike gave Daryl a list of players that will fit my style. Go out and get them.

    Woj: Or James Harden gave them a list too.

    BM: Either or. That's where teams miss the boat. You go out and get a Solomon Hill who you think is a good wing but maybe doesn't fit Alvin Gentry.

    Thanks @J.R. for the transcript. Thanks @heypartner for making it a new thread.

    Really good stuff there from Woj detailing the totality of Morey's moves. Piece by piece, the Rockets are doing a good job of building off James Harden. And really, there is still more to do. Look forward to seeing what is next with the draft, free agency and trades this summer.

    All of those awards seem at least somewhat likely.

    The only thing missing is the most important one.

    The only thing keeping Harden from getting EOY is Bobby Brown.

    Meyers has no claim to it this year. I hate when media gives awards on simple minded thinking. "Oh, best team? Executive of the year! Coach of the year!"

    Durant picked Golden State. It isn't like Bob Meyers traded for him. The salary cap exploded and Kevin Durant decided he wanted to play on the best team of all time.

    The Raptors GM has an argument, the Spurs have an argument and then the Rockets should be on the list.

    I think fair to say yes, if we sign Bogut I think its pretty much a done deal for him to get Exec of the Year

    We might get MVP, Coach of the year, 6th man and Exec of year.

    Pretty dope year for us

    Meyers better not win it. Durant pulled a punk move going to the Warriors. The GM had nothing to do with it other than clearing the necessary cap space which wasn't exactly a challenge.

    If there is one potential knock on Morey, it's that I don't think he wanted D'Antoni as the coach. By all accounts, that was Les' call.

    James Harden has been a better GM than Maury ever since Harden took 100% control over team decisions.

    - Harden got mcFail fired: Great move
    - Harden hired Mike AntoniO: Great move
    - Harden approved Gordon, Anderson, Lou Will: Great moves

    Harden for MVP and EOY

    And by extension, if Harden trading for Lou Willliams helps appreciably lower his TOs, then there's argument for a COTY....

    COTY for either Coach or Counselor of The Year for obviously having a talk with himself and listening to his own advice.

    Good point. If the rumors are true, the coach is being forced to run a system he doesn't believe in (Harden as the PG) because of Harden and the GM is making moves/not making moves because of Harden's power. Harden for COY and EOY for sure! I wonder if Harden made Les start wearing socks?
