There is no planet where Gerald Green is more playable than Nene, OR Clark.

As long as we win enough for HCA, I'd rather keep Nene and Cp3 enclosed in glass until the playoffs, and play the Gerald Greens of the world as much as possible until then.

This thread only took 9 posts till House was brought up.

BTW, worthless thread. GG has kept us in and brought us back in many games this year.

I question the man's IQ and defense too at times, but the Rockets have consistently been at their best when Green is leading the bench units.

I don't post this stat to suggest that Green is the best or most important player on the team. One can't take on-off stats too seriously (see Harden). But he's played over 1200 minutes, played in the good times and the bad; eventually the clear fact that the Rockets reliably win their minutes with him on the court has to be noted as more than just a statistical quirk.

It’s pretty obvious when Green has it. Mike has a tendency to overplay him even when his production is terribly negative. He needs to pull the plug sooner. Other than that, Green has value and plays a different position from Nene. Clark just sucks.

The difference between on/off for Green and Harden is interesting. Green is +8.7 and Harden is -0.4. As you mention, being on the second unit must account for a lot of that (see: Hartenstein +7.7, Nene +6.3). The other thing, which I only thought up because you mentioned it, is that the other players on the floor are not a constant. Like, when Harden is on the floor, the other players' on/off goes up too, but that's not just four other guys. Gerald Green gets a part of that boost from Harden, and four staters get part of that boost from Harden, and other guys get a boost. . . . The way I normally think about on/off, it's as if the other four guys are constant, but James has on/off with every guy on the team. Maybe this is obvious and I just thought of it :p

Honestly he’s so incoherent, it’s hard to tell if he’s genuinely stupid or incredibly biased.
