yea except in today's NBA if you want to be a good team your PG has to be able to score...unless you just have superstars in other positions ala miami...and even then chalmers is a deadly shooter.
Main knock against him no doubt from the coaching standpoint: He's tiny, so can't run the switch-on-everything defense they sometimes run with Lin/Uglas when the opponent's outside shots are falling disproportionately. Of course, on the flip side, the switch-on-everything defense is the only defense Uglas can run without falling flat on his face.
What seems so smart is that he locks these type of players in for 3 yrs with last 2 team option. If they worked out well we get good player for cheap for multi yrs and if not 1 yr and out the door.
The point guard doesn't need to score, he needs to be able to shoot well enough that opponents can sag off of him. He needs to be able create space. Obviously its good to be able to do both.
That's not true. McHale gave him minutes as soon as he got here. He didn't play as well as he has since Douglas got hurt. Maybe he was pressing then, or maybe he is on a hot streak. He's only played 164 minutes.
Yeah, but he was definitely in the game when Lin was and he was beasting. Lin can not defend quick PG's the way Beverly does.
Do you want to justify that ridiculous claim? Lin is an excellent passer with subpar shooting skills.
Beveley is officially jinxed. Now he will play like scrub and send to DL for further 'development' then cut by the team. How quickly OP forgets about Machado...........
Ye I was confused by that. Lin isn't the greatest shooter at all. If anything his passing has been the most consistent part of his game. Wouldn't that make him a "true point".
How quickly Kuku forgets Jeffrey Taylor and the most infamous Hasheem Thabeet(from scrub to rotation player).
He is playing a secondary playmaker role alongside a player who also averages around 6 assists per game. If he were the sole playmaker he would have probably 2 more assists per game considering his passing has really improved this year from last year in which he averaged 8 assists playing significant minutes.
Okay, you tell me why is it that when the other two point guards are on the court, everything just seems to come together? Things just look more natural. Are they better than Lin?
I thought it was GARM policy to ignore badlee at all times, no? Why people choose to engage a guy who can't back up anything he says is beyond me.
Hmm ... just like Machado was the only true point on the team. I like Beverley a lot, he's very active, brings a lot of energy, and will get better as the game slows down for him ... but let's not play the every new guy brought in is better game all the time. Your fab five of Machado, Lamb, Jones, White and DMo are all currently in DLeague. Ok, DMo technically not, but ...
