Something about Gruden just always rubs me the wrong way. Not sure what it is, but I just don't like him. He does win, but not my first choice. I've always liked Cowher, and would love it if he oversaw the defense and got an OC like Pete Carmichael (maybe name him "associate head coach" and back up the Brinks truck to get him out of NO) and just got out of the offense's way. No way that happens, but I can dream.

I have a bad feeling that I'm going to be disappointed at the end of this coaching search.

Let Teddy Bridgewater choose who should be his next head coach.

"We would like someone who has had head coaching experience, but has also had NFL experience. It’s a combination of those two things would be the ideal situation and there are people who meet those conditions." - Bob McNair

He says Head Coaching Experience and NFL Experience. Shaw has both.

Definitely do not want Cowher, Gruden or Sumlin. I think people who want any of these guys are misguided. Cowher and Gruden are stale, looking for huge paydays and complete control. Sumlin is a no-brainer thumbs-down.

OK with considering Lovie Smith, Bill O'Brien and David Shaw.

I'm not as high on Grudan as most are... He's good, but his likability on TV has made people forget that he was in fact fired after some rough seasons.

My 1st choice I think would be Bill Cowher, then maybe Lovie Smith, then probably Grudan.

After those three there's a pretty big drop to the rest of the candidates I think.

So love smith isn't looking for a payday....?
How do you know they Cowher and Gruden looking for a payday...?if they were looking for a payday why did they the stay out of coaching for a period time, my first thought is that they are waiting for the best opportunity for a good organization and a team with talents.

When you're away from the game as long as they are, you can't help but get stale and soft. Keeping the intensity and edge that it takes to be a head coach in the NFL is difficult to do for INCUMBENT guys......it would be infinitely harder for guys AWAY from the game for 5+ years.

Im also hearing Kyle Shanahan might be an option. What would you think about him? The offense was decent under Kyle a few years back.

Nope. Time to move away from the Shanahan tree.

I like Bill O'Brien as well, but I'm not sure he will leave Penn State. He claimed when he took that job that he wouldn't leave it for the NFL and I feel like he turned down interviews for head coaching gigs already.

Bill O'Brien is cool and all, but the Belichick coaching tree hasn't yielded much fruit.

Redskins fans see this as an easy out of our situation. Let Kyle walk to Houston, and we can keep Mike as our headcoach while getting a new OC. I hope you guys don't get Lovie Smith, I'd love him as a defensive coordinator.
