Calling himself "soft," naming a "defensive coordinator," telling a 19-year-old rookie's agent to seek a trade... and all this on top of his erratic rotation caused only partially by injuries.

Don Nelson was always a bit of a "mad scientist." But this **** is bizzare even by his standard.

Wow, maybe Nellie really is losing his mind. A defensive coordinator in basketball? That's funny stuff.

BTW, I would be happy to take Anthony Randolph off their hands.

Well I guess it's safe to say he will be the 7th coach fired.

Yeah, I'd be glad to give them Head.

Don't bet on it. The owner is very cheap and Nellie just renewed his contract.

What a trainwreck, this offseason probably set that pitiful franchise back 5 years. Its a shame since they have some of the greatest fans in the league.

Letting Davis go and the Ellis debacle killed them. I'm surprised Mullin hasn't been canned.

I usually refrain from using the "Head" jokes but you're asking for it here! ;)

But I agree. Nellie's uptempo system relies on shooting, scoring ability and athleticism. Head could be useful in that system.

Nellie has been insane for a long, long time.

His teams are fun to watch and mildly successful with players that wouldn't be that good elsewhere, so he's been able to sell his fool's gold for decades to ownership/GMs looking for a quick fix.

This reminds me of when he got tired of coaching in Dallas and turned over some games to Avery Johnson. Next thing you know, he's gone and AJ becomes head coach full-time. Keith Smart will take over as head coach of the Warriors soon. Nellie wants to leave and I think he'll do whatever is necessary to force a decision.

    Same song, 2nd verse.

I'm not sure I believe the Randolph story.

Regarding Chris Mullen, he has been stripped of all authority and is just collecting money.

Not only those things, but the signing of maggette, giving Stephen Jackson a lucrative extension and trading for Crawford were horrible decisions. When they choose not to resign Bdiddy, the warriors should have gone into full blown rebuilding mode. But instead they choose to dole out some more contracts and bury their young talent on the bench. Looks like the warriors didn't learn anything from their 15 years of futility before their one hit wonder against Dallas.

Nelson prob could find a good use for head's skills in his system more than Randolph's. I can see head as a Stackhouse role with green light to shoot coming off the bench or a Finley role.

    my sentiments exactly.
a repeat the Isiah Thomas fiasco, an Hall of Famer given the key to run a NBA team, only to screw it up royally.

    :D

I heard they saying Nellie called Anthony the most amazing young player on the team not long ago.

I love Nellie as long as he is not Rockets' coach.

Didn't this guy once tell Avery Johnson to coach against the Spurs because "you know them better"? Y'all think he is crazy. I LOVE it.

LOL I think Nellie has just gotten tired of Bball and just wants to sip Mai Tais in a beach somewhere ;)

That is just some nutjob coaching he's doing this year, almost as bad as Larry Brown's coaching under the Knicks. Wasn't he like showcasing the different rookies this year? Morrow, Randolph, Kurz? Now he's telling Randolph he doesn't fit. Randolph is built like a sports car, his game is built all on speed and athleticism. How can he not fit in the run and gun style of GS
