The rockets lack one thing to compete with the warriors

Actually this is not that bad of an idea but this should be food for thought in the OFFSEASON.

And probably not Gordon for MKG kind of defender but other assets.

Keep Harden, Capela, Paul, Gordon, Nene, if possible and at all cost. Ariza....perhaps

You need to get longer defenders and younger. That is right though.

Tucker and Luc Mbah are bandaids but they should not be part of the plans in 2-3 years.

Mbah a Moute if he keeps that up for another 2 years.

 

We can compete with the Warriors and have everything we need as far as players go:

- MVP type players - check
- 2 top 10 players - check
- backcourt excellence - check
- elite defenders - check
- dominant big man - check
- elite 3pt shooters - check
- deep bench - check
- 6th man - check

Now the only thing we lack compared to GS is Draymond typ of versatile big man, but Tucker can play with the big dogs and we have Capela. That type of big they don’t have so there is one thing: elite coaching. MDA’s rotation and system do not maximise this group’s talent.

 

Its not that they are bandaids, is they are very good for the money they are paid. Who out there that you know of that is willing to sign with us and has the same value? Value = Quality and price. I think both tucker and mahbooty are great pick ups.

 

I still think we are a two way power forward away from greatness. If KD came here from free agency we win, that wont happen. If lebron came here we win. If paul George came here and had a break out season we stand a decent chance.

 

That's some blasphemous stuff right there. We're not beating the Warriors either way this year. This entire season and the playoffs is a showcase for Lebron or any other All-Star free agent that we're chasing next free agency. We have to prove we can make it work with CP3 in the line. Secure at least the 2nd seed in the West and make the WCF while playing a competitive series with the Warriors. That's the only to convince a Lebron to come join us.

Lacking consistency on D, moar playoff experience and CP3 being healthy above all.

I would not trade gordon+ariza for melo.

 

Ok so coach Mike D'Antoni only plays seven or eight players at most.

Is Steve Kerr more open to giving playing time to the Warriors' bench than coach of the Houston Rockets would give to his?

 

I think adding Gordon would put us over the top. However, it will be pain bringing back everyone as it is. Ariza, Mbah, Black, Capela and CP3 all have to be re-signed. Signing Harden to that ridiculous contract was not the smartest move. I think if you want to build a contender, knowing the Warriors situation all stars and veterans should take a discount. I don't see Mbah and Ariza coming back on low contracts, Black will and Capela will demand the max. CP3 might need to take the biggest pay-cut and sacrifice, but he probably won't.
