Texans have all the money for this fancy stuff and they still stink year after year. I'm good with the way the Rockets are doing things, thank you very much.

We need an all glass wall facility between 45 and 610 so we the fans can see everyday who is putting in work or looks fat

So bigger is better? I teach college. in college, having the students packed into a smaller space is far better than having them spread out over a bigger space. The energy is concentrated rather than dispersed.

How much does one of these fancy practice facilities cost? Would fans be in favor of raising ticket prices in order to build one of these things.

No, I don't believe nicer facilities make better basketball players just like I don't believe nicer schools make better students. But it could lead to some more efficient practices. I've also heard that some players like to go into the gym late at night and get some shots up. The problem with the practice center being at Toyota Center is that when there is an event going on like a concert, players can't get to the gym like they'd like to.

With a practice facility, players can come and go as they please any time.

Also, it's a good look for your franchise when you invest in things for your players.

Do the Rockets host concerts on the practice court? Or maybe player can easily get up shots even during a concert?

Lots straw man arguments in this thread. I pointed out an area of the franchise that is clearly lagging behind other teams. I'm not sure why some people are so defensive over it. Tilman and Morey both feel it is an issue:

Tilman:

We do not have a proper training facility with what you need today to be competitive," Fertitta said. "We only have a one-court practice facility. When there's a concert or another event going on, they can't use the other (arena) court. So, you're down to this one tight court that you can't even stand next to the wall. It's bad.

"I've already been to other facilities and have seen they have better facilities. Just as over the years we'll start putting Toyota Center through a metamorphosis, we also need the facilities for our players and coaches that are as good as anybody else's in the league. It's no different from any other operation that I have. It's always going to be top tier.

"I think it's important," he said. "It's all still a reflection on the team and players and ownership. You always want people to see this isn't a hobby. This is a business. We're going to give you the best facilities for any free agent to see.

We're always trying to be at the forefront of the NBA as far as practice facilities," Rockets general manager Daryl Morey said. "We're in the very early days of this, but rest assured if Tilman does something, it will be at the top of the league and A-1. We have the best in arena facilities in the NBA, but in the arena, there's only room for one practice court.

So it's clearly been talked about. But that was from last year and I have not heard anything since.

I was basing that on an article I read about the Mavericks new practice facility:

In a sense, it’s an arm’s race, and the Mavericks have been lagging behind. They have practiced at the American Airlines Center for years, a convenient set-up. But the one-court floor limited the team’s options, and it was sometimes hard for players like Dirk Nowitzki to get into the building for a late night shooting session when a concert or Stars game was going on that evening.

And a new practice facility doesn't mean they have to get rid of the old one. From the same article:

That court at the American Airlines Center will remain, too. It’s still useful for players to shoot before and after games, and the Mavericks can surely find some more uses for it, too, if for no other reason than how close it is.

It's not even a facility. It's a single, tightly-fitted court inside the Toyota Center. Every team in the league is building stand-alone, state-of-the-art practice facilities with multiple courts so that there is more room to split up players and work on different things at the same time. It makes practice time more efficient.

Here are the practice facilities of every team in the West:

Golden State:

Portland:

Oklahoma City:

Utah:

New Orleans:

San Antonio:

Minnesota:

LA Clippers:

LA Lakers:

Sacramento:

Dallas:

Memphis:

The only two not pictured are Denver and Phoenix, which have a facility similar to the Rockets'.

I probably liked Detroit's facility more than any of the others.

Somehow the Knicks' facility absolutely nails the 'what a gym in NY must look like' look.

They used to have one. Good ol westside tennis center. I think a lot of players back then lived in west Houston at the time.

Then they built Toyota Center and had that practice court built in to it because that was the trend back during that time.

But now it’s all about the facility. So make sure you eat at Landry’s or whatever. Imma go hit up rainforest cafe and the aquarium.

What’s he need? 20 million or so?
