Taking Harrell out of the rotation would be a HUGE MISTAKE. If we got someone like Bogut it should only be for certain matchups and spot minutes when we need some extra physicality, hard fouls and tough screens. Harrell is a perfect 4/5 for MDAs system and will only continue to get better.
With it looking like Bogut going to the Cavs do you guys think Morey is going more for another center or (if it were up to me) a 3&D forward?
I would have added this to the first post, but for some reason wasn't able to edit it (no idea why...) The Rockets lost tonight (and many other games this season) because they were tired (did they practice today? Would make sense). This is the solution to the problem: Ideal Average MPG Version 1.0 (Regular Season, playoffs varies with matchup): Harden - 34 Beverly - 16 Gordon - 20 Williams - 20 Ariza - 20 3 & D / Dekker - 15 Anderson - 20 Dekker / 3 & D - 15 Capela - 14 Nene - 12 Harrell - 14 The 3&D and Dekker are interchangeable depending on 3&Ds natural position in our system. The keys to each player playing lower minutes are: 1. Whenever they're in the game they'll be able to play at a 10 (offensively and defensively) and as fast and hard as they can. If they're at a 9, go to the bench. When they're back to a 10, come back in. Our pace goes through the roof, teams really will not be able to keep up with us. They will have a harder time defending us, while we'll be all over them on the defensive end. Our shooting percentage goes up, steals and opposing teams turnovers go up, fast break points go way up, as well as possessions per game. The true MDA pace. 2. With less minutes, players can not only play harder, but will stay more fresh (physically and mentally), so their shooting percentage, basketball IQ and overall efficiency goes up. Turnovers go down. Less defensive mistakes. They're also more likely to stay healthy. 3. Due to the higher minute distribution between players, we become more unpredictable and again, harder to defend. This also allows younger players to develop faster. It's worth noting that the 34 MPG for Harden would match that of Durant and Klay Thompson this season (Golden State has it figured out).
Players who played too many minutes tonight (IMO) Harden - 39 (he looked exhausted) Ariza - 36 (see above... total defensive mistake leading to that dagger corner 3 at the end) Not enough minutes: Dekker - 11 Harrell - 4 (could really have used his energy)
The biggest weakness is our stars inability to focus on both ends of the floor. Then i'd have to say NeNe looks old and Capella looks way too young.
Nene is effective, but yes old lol. He did well tonight but would have liked to see less minutes and more for Harrell. I don't think it's lack of focus as much as it is getting tired. Coaches told our guys tonight to really focus on both offense and defense tonight to start the game. We came out really hard on both ends, and when that happens you get tired faster. If we had a 3&D to shave 15 min off of our guys they'd have a lot more energy and focus on both ends over the course of the whole game.
Ariza's minutes should be for his defensive (around 20 min per game). 15 MPG would go to a player like Ariza but better offensively. Thats what we need.
pray that Bogut or Sanders wants to play for us. Apparently Bogut's doing team interviews with Rockets and Cavs. In the end, it'll be if he wants a ring or the money, he's got both already.
