Because MDA sets his rotation this way, it makes the most sense to bring in a bruiser for spot minutes at defense only when we're going up against other big centers.
I hear what you're saying. I know we already have our resident "knucklehead young guy" in Dekker but that's why I said sign him and send him to the valley, let him help the Viper vie for the d league title and then see if he can play the spot mop minutes that KJ would get in blowouts, he's only going to get better. His potential is immeasurable imo
Really thinking MDA goes to a 10 or 11 man rotation these playoffs. He's never had a team even close to this deep. #strengthinnumbers #warriors2.0
So you somehow want to find a Kevin Durant or Kawhi Leonard on the scrap heap and then only play him 15 minutes. A 40% 3 and D is an all-star. SMH
Ariza is ~ 40% when he's fresh. You have to put some advanced stats together but that's what they show. They should be minimum 37% in our system. Meaning they're probably ~35-36% elsewhere. Ariz-alikes are out there if you look hard enough.
No, not the only one. I think we could use a wing that can play D and shoot the 3 as well. I do also believe we could use a match up big man for games against bruisers. Nene gets in foul trouble and Capela and Harrell can get eaten alive by power centers. It's a limited role though.
in my opinion...Beverly/Ariza were sub par offensively last night and were happy as can be because they're offense wasn't needed. Now they can focus on DEFENSE primarily like last night. Ariza's stock gonna rise now that Lou is in a Rox uniform. Bogut and/or a similar player would be a big bonus come playoff time especially if we go up against the warriros/memphis etc...I suspect Bev/Ariza on the defensive end will take it up a notch or two not being run in the ground minute wise
I totally get what you mean by combined players putting up all-star stats, Bugs. Like Scolandry. IMO, Rox should focus filling their hole at the small forward slot, rather than focus on having a backup-backup-backup center in case the first three guys get in foul trouble or injured. If your key players get injured, you're SOL - it wasn't meant to be! Not everyone gets a trophy!
That's true. If getting a center helps the rotation so current players can play more to their strengths, then it fulfills both needs. If Rockets land Bogut, I'm just gonna have to pretend his last team was the Bucks, then he disappeared into obscurity, got old, and then joined Houston. I kinda liked Bogut when he was on the Bucks.
Bring a "Goodbye Bucks, Hello Rockets! Welcome Bogut" sign to his first game. Make sure to wear a jersey, but not one newer than 2010.
Well first and foremost, our biggest roster weakness is not having a 2nd superstar. Secondly, the format the OP put our depth in is a big misrepresentation. It makes our SF position look super weak when it isn't. Bev, Gordon, Lou and Ariza will all get around 28 minutes each right? Give or take a couple minutes to one another. Harden will get around 34-36 minutes as well. Well that is all the minutes available for PG, SG and SF completely taken up. Not to mention, we have Dekker who can easily play the SF position, not playing any SF minutes because there is absolutely no room. He will get almost all of his minutes at the PF for the rest of this season (if healthy) because there just isn't a choice due to having such a talented and deep backcourt. Our front court is also deep like the backcourt, it just isn't as talented, or at least delivering our needs like our backcourt does. At the PF position we have Anderson who is a bad defender and rebounder, thing is he brings vital shooting and spacing. He is a starter and will get significant minutes. His backup is Dekker who is a below average defender and rebounder at the PF position, he brings some shooting, energy and slashing. We have a clear need for a center who is big, can rebound and defend, which is magnified because of our PF's who can't rebound or defend. We have Capela who can defend and rebound but he isn't big enough (weight). We have Nene who is big, is okay on defense, but cannot rebound well enough. We have Harrell who isn't big, can't rebound or play defense (at C position). Our center position, specifically the backup slot, is the biggest problem. Nene and Harrell are FANTASTIC finishers/pick n roll players, but they just lack our biggest need at the position which is good defense and rebounding. Unless we change our PF position (dumping Anderson), we will always need all of our centers to be great rebounder and defenders.
