If you read the article, they're very careful to not mention how much of that Harden is single handedly responsible for.

This clown also believes the Lakers are the best defensive team in the NBA.

You also cannot just cherry pick by removing the stats for the greatest 50+ point a game scorer in basketball history.

The Ringer also is always behind the times........... now writing about how rebounding wings are the big market inefficiency. Everyone knows that rebounds do not have to come from the center spot and that a running team can do well with a non traditional center if they have wings or guards that can hit the boards.

I fully expect them to next write a piece on how important three point shooting is in the NBA or how basketball is not positionless.

It's not just that Harden drops 50 with regularity. Look at how many triple doubles he's had along with that many points. THAT is not easy to do at all. He has a damn 60 point triple double for chrissakes! And that was on a night where the Rockets were missing half their lineup and the Magic could key in on him.

Harden scores in ISO off of heavily contested, off the dribble, unassisted shots...these are shots he would have no problem creating in the 90s, early 2000s, or at any time in NBA history

Harden can have 4 G-League guys around him and still have no problems leading the league in scoring, and doing so efficiently

Harden is so great that he carried last year’s Rockets to a better offensive rating than the 17-18 squad...last year’s Rockets managed to have 1 of the best offensive ratings in history...I mean, c’mon now, who else is doing that? Harden is legendary

This is true... but not everything has to be taken as a Harden attack.

Harden could have scored at will in the 90's for example, but absolutely there's no way he'd be taken anywhere close to the same number of threes or FTs. Just different way players/teams played and different foul rules.

I think the article can be both in the right direction, while also under-appreciating the fact that while the math might make it slightly easier, it's still ridiculously hard to do.

Not sure about 50 pt games, but it definitely seems there are a ton of guys who are averaging upper 20's, Luka is nearly at 29/11/9 which seems absurd for someone his age. Didn't click the article, but this season does seem different.

why absolutely no way? howbout probable or at the least very possible?

math then is same as math now
threes then are as difficult as threes now
he'll still have his hardwork, skill, strength, physicality to make threes and handle contact and physicality
and BB IQ/smarts to understand and maximize the rules to his advantage

You guys took that article as a shot at Harden? He was barely mentioned. Was this a hate piece?

What is going on with this anti-Harden stuff? It's insane. Why didn't everyone hate Manu Ginobili like this?

The guy who is far and away the leader in 50 point games isn't mentioned in an article about 50 point games. About how "easy" they are now. It's some very heavy subtext.

You might be onto something here.

Perhaps it was a Sixers paid pep talk for Tobias Harris.

I don't really think it worth arguing. sports philosophies change. harden's 14 3PA per game is more than the highest team until the mid 90s.

We can say, with 99.99% certainty, that he would not have been shooting the volume of 3PA in the 90s, that he is right now.

Cool, so does that mean BS is gonna suit up and even make a single shot? Asking for a friend.
