I mean sure... if anyone will buy what he's selling. Morey isn't just trying to have a fire sale. He's trying to retool and is going to be looking for equivalent value in trades (though value can come in multiple forms).

I'm under the impression that we'd have to move Paul and or Capela to get enough wiggle room to do anything major. And I'd think their market is fairly limited with Capela being a specialist and Paul being an aging star on a prime superstar deal.

Our most tradeable assets (outside of Harden) are the ones on the best contracts (Tucker, Gordon). I have no idea if House could command some trade value, being an RFA?

People need to get ready to be underwhelmed if they're expecting us to have 3 all stars next year or to turn over more than 2 rotation guys.

I would add Zion to the bench so he can slowly adapt

I'm not expecting two superstars to start the season much less adding a 3rd.

My impression is that CP3 is out the door.

The question is what they can get in return and that's going to come down to what team / teams they are dealing with.
You wont be getting a star in return but you can get players who better compliment your MVP and your system making the team better as a result.

If its the Lakers - Kuzma is a prime target

Miami - Dragic & Olynyk + ??? Could you pry loose Winslow by taking on those other two contracts ?

Charlotte - What would they give to get ridda Batum ?

PHX - Tyler Johnson and ???

I'm sure there are other options ….

The other thing is that in some scenario's you can dip below the cap and sign a player with cap space then use your MLE / BAE.

For those that keep bringing up how close the current roster was the season before, next years playoffs will be two years removed. Thats two years older. Even if we bring back Ariza its hard to see us right back where we were.

I think weve already hit the high water mark with this team for Harden's prime. We either belive that we can get back to the level of play a year and a half ago and that will be good enough to beat a Durantless warriors team, or we take a risk and roll the dice breaking up what we have on faith that it will add up to a better formula come playoff time next year.

I think the bar is gonna be high for Morey to break up this team. Lets face it. Last year's rockets team might have beaten this year's warriors team.

    Short answer: Yes

Long answer: You can’t beat the Warriors with an undersized PG, a Center who logs in 25 minutes vs Warriors
and a SG bench guy playing as starting Small Forward.......all of which earn about $14 Million a year
or greater and the team is capped-out.

Team has to go to position less basketball. With Harden and Tucker you have the building blocks necessary to win.

I think DM would like to break it up, but suspect Tillman wants to have them stay very competitive while also not running crazy costs.

    Tough spot for DM.

Bear in mind, its likely the 76ers would have hired him as their GM in the offseason, but DM passed. Thinking he's kicking himself.

I think Daryl will be the Rockets version of Gerry Hunsicker much respected but could not win a ring.
