The Rockets have always been at their best when coached by a former Rocket -- Sam has expressed his desire to be an NBA coach and was basically a player/coach at the end of his career. What does CFNET think about Cassell as a possible Rocket coach down the road?
Cassell is going to be a great coach throughout that part of his career. McHale and crew have me satisfied though. I would like to stay that course.
I think so too, he bring toughness, leadership, Rockets glory and of course: the art of the midrange game that we lack so much! He could teach guys to pump fake and make great plays, so I really believe he would do wonders for Lin, Douglas and help Harden, Parsons & Morris too. Give him some old school great big man coach, an X & O's guy and a defensive specialist and we'll be all good

I should note -- I'm not on the fire McHale bandwagon -- this thread is more of a down the road possibility for the Rockets. I'd love to see him hired on as an assistant first if that was something he was interested in doing.
if you really want a former player to coach the team who can immediately come in and do so would be Avery Johnson but i did like the Sam Cassell idea when they were searching for a coach after letting RA go but he still seems to be a few years away from being a head coach
I really don't think a possible future coach should get any extra consideration just because they played for the Rockets. Cassell was a good player, but I don't have any idea about his ability to coach.
you mchale hater you! sounds good, may i add mario as the assistant coach with cameos from hakeem to work on post moves with our players. He'd be like a much cooler dawson.
Would definitely not be opposed. Let him pay his dues first. Coach the Vipers for a while or something. Phil Jackson started out in the CBA.
