LOL. If DMO never had gotten injured 30 out of 30 GMs would prefer him over Faried even with the same contract. Faried is worse defensively less versatile has no outside shot and good post moves and clogs up the lanes. On top of that he believes himself to be a star and can't accept coming off the bench. He has shown absolutely no improvement in his game. Excellent post. Wish I could like it twice.
Nene and Capela play the 5 wherras Faried is predominantly a 4. Faried's D is overrated, just a great rebounder. Plus, you get energy bigs much cheaper than Faried geta paid now and would want to be paid for his next contract.
He's not great defensively and has limited offensive game. But he's an extremely consistent player giving you plenty of production for his salary. Where do you find energy bigs that give you consistent per 36 stats of 17+ points, 11.5+ rebounds, couple of assists, a block and high fg efficiency, while actually doing it for 25+ minutes per game? Boba got paid $9 million this offseason. Pau got $15.5 - and granted, Pau is still a much better player, since he can play defense, but his offensive game has been declining and while way different than Faried is basically the same as Farads given its way less efficient and the same overall offensive production, and he's 10 years older. Faried's contract issues would be mostly about length - 3 more years, and less about amount per year.
Denver In: F Sam Dekker (HOU) + 2017 2nd (DEN via HOU) + 2018 2nd (HOU) Minnesota In: F Kenneth Faried (DEN) Houston In: C/F Gorgui Dieng (MN)
I like the guy, but we have Anderson. So Faried would basically be a defensive specialist while having the ability to be more than that. If we sign dmo, we should be set barring injuries and dmo requires nothing in return other than money.
He's a terrible defender. It's another one of those myths that people think players who play with a lot of energy must be good on D. Sorta like Westbrook although he's not bad just not great either, just avg.
Did you know that magic Johnson was also one of the worst finishers around the rim ever, like Rubio? Wait, never mind.
That wasn't the case when he put 45 on Daryl Dawkins, in a game 6, for a championship, as a ROOKIE, AS THE STARTING CENTER! Wait, that wasn't Rubio?
Kenneth Faried would thrive in Rockets offense alongside Harden. Nuggets are playing Twin Towers with Nurkic and Jokic this upcoming season with Arthur as a backup and Gallo as a stretch-four for clutch time, no need to play Faried while they are not running anymore. Go and checkout his play at FIBA World Cup 2014 while being a part of running game
And also I'm laughing at people for mentioning Faried D. Rockets signed a four-year 80M deal with Ryan Anderson whose legs are dead on defense for the last four years and Eric Gordon whose legs are dead for the last three years overall.
Putting Ryan Anderson on the pick-n-roll on defense would make you feel like Kevin Love is clear DPOY candidate for the next 5 years
True, but they can score/shoot, Faried can only dunk, and he can't play the 5 so...as a starter at the 4 spot, he's not what you want in today's nba
