    In order of preference of a player falling into our laps at #8, what player would you most want to fall to #8? Personally, I have been having a tough time choosing between Aldridge, Bargnani and Gay. I much prefer Brewer to Thomas, Roy, Carney, Redick and even Morrison. Morrison's diabetic condition is too much of a risk. I know because I am diabetic as well.

    Aldridge and Barnani both can give Yao Ming some breathing space. Aldridge apparently is a smidge better rebounder, but Bargnani has more range. Gay has more long-term upside than Brewer but plays the same position as McGrady. Brewer is more versatile and is the better passer -- maybe even better than Rafer Alston. The burning question (for me) is whether Gay is a 3-4 or a 3-2. Can he guard the tougher match-ups to protect Tracy's back?

    Brandon Roy would be a solid starting SG for years. A real nice third wheel.

    If Roy falls, the fall IMO will be because of a bad wheel. I don't see him giving us anything that Brewer can't -- and Brewer is taller, more athletic and more versatile.

    Aldridge or Bargnani. I'd be happy with the other top-6 and even with Brewer. But, PF is a position of need, even if JVG thinks otherwise, and it seems like the best guys in this draft are forwards.

    Gay is definitely more of a 3/4 than a 2/3. He's about the same size as Stro with length and athleticism to burn, so guarding PFs shouldn't be that much of a stretch. I'd be ecstatic if we landed Gay. He's exactly the kind of combo-forward that is becoming so popular around the league.

    "combo-forward".....You hear the term "combo-guard" quite a bit, and I think you are right, the way teams are playing smaller lineups: PFs are now Cs and SFs are playing PF roles....the term "combo-forward" clearly is more relevant today.

    without question morrison. he'll probably win rookie of the year and on top of being able to score on his own, he can open the floor up for yao and t-mac.

    If you are diabetic you would not even dare to make a statement like this, A diabetic person will have no friggin problem whatsoever if they take care of diet and exercise and medication.

    Morrission by all means is not a type 1 diabetic ( and it would not even matter if he was). He gets plenty of exercise and even a diabetic like me knows what to eat and what to stay away from.

    It is highly irresponsible to float this myth around- especially since you say you are a diabetic.

    Are you a diabetic? No? Check for high blood pressure then.

    I truly wish I weren't a diabetic because that surely would make my life a lot easier and cheaper. Incidentally, Morrison IS a Type 1 diabetic.

    Type II is adult onset diabetes which often can be controlled with pills. Type 1 diabetics are shooters -- aside from those being dead-eye hoopsters -- so we are talking mainline insulin injection here and constant monitoring.

    Morrison will have to be closely monitored during games. The Rockets have to be aware of the low or high blood sugar risks. Out of kilter blood sugars often are associated with triglycerides that are out of whack -- not to mention the strain on the kidneys, heart and brain. It is an insidious disease because it can impair your vision, thought processes, coordination etc.

    So don't be so bummed out about it -- the Rockets must consider the ramifications for the short AND the long term. To do otherwise would be "highly irresponsible."

    the kid made it through college, and a college season. I'm pretty sure Stache know how to handle his body.

    It's just like, I know that my drinking limit is 2 virgin strawberry daiquris.

    I'm not saying the kid can't play. I'm saying that Morrison brings added risk, and the Rockets should perform an extra measure of due diligence. The same goes for Roy's knees -- he's had nasty injuries early. We don't need any Alan Houstons or Grant Hills who are great players -- but sit on the bench.

    don't recall any other type 1 diabetes players in the NBA other than Chris Dudley. played 16 years, 886 games, averaging as many as 27.4 mpg and 9.3 rpg.

    of course, he was picked in the 4th round, so it didn't appear to be much of a gamble at the time.

    Im torn between gay and morrison i would probably take morrison because he is a bit more of a finished product and thats what this team needs to do and i lean to morrison because of the attention he would bring the rockets he would give so much excitement and would be a likely rookie of the year!
