    The Fake News Machine: Inside a Town Gearing Up for 2020

    CNN has a story on Veles, riverside town in Macedonia, which back in the day was known to make porcelain for the whole of Yugoslavia. But now, as an investigation by the news outlet has found, it makes fake news. Veles has become home to dozens of website operators who churn out bogus stories designed to attract the attention of Americans. Each click adds cash to their bank accounts. From the report:

    If this country can't get a handle on preventing foreign influence in our elections, we are in deep trouble. And for those who don't care because these sites "favor" their party or candidate, it could be you next. Putin and his minions are behind this. If he decides that Republicans are a bigger "threat" to increasing Russian power and influence, something Putin is obsessed with, the "Fake News" could be aimed at them, not Democrats.

    No kidding. The foreign influence pushing these kinds of fake news stories is ridiculous. It's bad when foreign influences even pay posters on this site.
