The Chris Paul Contract

Now, I don't really know how to assign blame. Our coach doesn't seem to coach, and Paul, in the end, was hired as a player under said coach. He doesn't seem like much of a leader, but he also only has so much agency to be one in the first place.

So, I think there was all this hope about more intangible aspects around Chris Paul, but ultimately we paid for the tangible aspect which is an oft-injured player in his declining years. The team relies too much on what-ifs in lieu of designing a framework of flexible offense and strong defense that is player-agnostic to a large degree. And that's a coaching problem. And since our current "system" is Morey's baby, I'm lumping him in with coaching on this. And don't hire $40 million point guards and then cram them into an inflexible, uncreative offense, because then you're just paying $40 million for something you could get for a fraction of that.

Good post. What you said is basically how I see it.

I want to add one more point about the expectation. CP3 was supposed to be able to recruit more stars. So far, the only "star" he recruited was Melo and we all know how it turned out.

Also, some people speculate that if we didn't get Paul, Harden might want to bolt. I don't really buy that. Harden had no indication that he wanted to leave before we got Paul.

Good post. Mike D'Antoni might seriously be one of the most useless head coaches in NBA history.

1. Coaches one half of the game.
2. Has the most simplistic system in league history on that side of the game(Even post-centric offenses have more dynamics to them).
3. Not known for developing talent
4. Not getting to team to even play his preferred style(fast).

You can’t preach defense when you are getting torched night in night out but every small guard in the league

2.Raptors acquired defensive talents (Green, Kawhi, Gasol defensive player of the year)
Rockets acquired offensive talents (Faried, Rivers and Shumpert)

3. You are right, he does not like to develop young players (rookie contracts).

4. Paul, Tucker and Nene are old and Gordon looks overweight. Defense is the slowest in the nba. forget about fast.

Chris Paul contract is fine if MDA develop 2 good rookie contracts.
Good rookie contracts:
Raptors have 2
Bucks have 2
76ers have 2
Celtics have 3.

Lowry 30 million and 2 rookies contracts 3 million = 33 million for 3 players

Paul 40 million, Gordon 15 million, Shumpert 11 million = 66 million for 3 players

Production: Raptors 3 players > Rockets 3 players

Chris made a couple of bad plays but was still good for us. For me he's not the same player he was last season, just doesn't move as well overall...but that's to be expected all things considered, and that's why we need another top player going forward.

Paul missed 3 FTs and got 2 techs against him. That's 5 points. Plus you add in 5 turnovers. That's the game.

Also those turnovers he had were Jeremy Linish. The last one at the end of the game was a high school JV girl turnover.

Lol what? Eric Gordon has well and truly been better then him in this playoffs so how the dark is he worth 40 million? Is this Lorna malvos at I’d?
