Has anyone else noticed the big piece missing with the 2nd group. The hustle he gives on a nightly basis? I don't think people understand how much this guy means to this team. Scola and Landry are a great tandem beside Yao.

He also has a "give me dat" mentality that i love. His number are up a little from last year but not by a great margin. He has went from a guy, who wasn't even talked about being a contributer, to the 6th man on this team, anyone disagree? His stats don't jump out at you with most 6th men but a solid contributer with a fiesty second group bodes very well for the future!

He is averaging 9.3 PPG to last seasons 8.1

His rebounding is about the same 5.0 this year and 4.9 last.

Assist are up to 0.6 as opposed to .3 last year

Minutes are up from 16.9 to 21.3 (which is why yao's minutes have stayed down this year).

His field goal percentage has gone down from 62% to 57% probably bacause of the extended minutes.

His free throw percentage is up from 66% to 82%

Has scored in double figures 33 times this year but only has 1 double double (although he has about 14 games with double digit points and 9 or 8 rebounds)

    His efficiency rating is 11.62

The guy works hard and you never here a peep out of him. There isn't a better role model for younger players than Carl Landry.

All around this year he has been a tremendous part of this team and i want to give him the credit and respect i feel he deserves.

    Get well Carl!

Great post. Carl is a beast.. far and away my favorite Rocket. I miss him on the 2nd unit. It'll be great to have him back for the playoffs.

    Good post, XBLrocketman.

Carl Landry is certainly a necessary component of this squad. It would've been great if the Rockets had him yesterday as he could've matched up better with Millsap than Yao or Scola.

I know Landry's not a great defender, but he can move better than Yao or Scola which would've allowed him to keep up with Millsap better.

He can't come back soon enough. I hope his recovery is going on schedule, and he finds his way back on the court in the next week or so.

I don't know if this thread is a rash reaction to the Jazz loss last night or not but either way there's no denying Landry's effect. Yesterday, when Hayes was in the ball game we were getting second chance opportunities and Hayes did an admirable job defending the post as well. The only negative as we all know is that Hayes can not score.

If Landry were to have played we would have gotten the same hustle and second chance opportunities that Hayes provided WITH offense to boot. Even simple things like a dunk here and there would energize the rest of the team. I don't think the Rockets had a single dunk last night ( I could be wrong) I know 2 points is 2 points but it's all mental. He also would've been a nice equalizer to Boozer, Millsap and Okur as Yao and Scola expended way too much energy on the defensive end leaving not much else for the offensive side.

Get well soon Carl. We need you!

Nothing in this thread was specific to any certain game. Overall, looking at the bigger picture. the was not even a Jazz mention in there, why would you think that?

And to think that when we were dangling him out to Charlotte last summer people were questioning whether he added much to this squad. Puhleaze! Landry ftw.

I was astonished that some people were of the opinion including a Chronicle journalist (forget which one) that Dorsey was the replacement for Carl.

Why wouldn't I or any other logical fan think that? I thought that cause we really could have used Landry last night for all the reasons I mentioned in my original post. Also the Jazz are one of the deepest teams in the league and if we don't have all of our players healthy we are at a severe disadvantage as this was noticed by Rafer being out 2 games against them last year in the playoffs, Battier not being 100% and Yao out. It's vice versa for the Jazz too when they were without Deron Williams and or Boozer in our earlier matchups this year we capitalized.

The point is we've done an admirable job collectively without Landry for the last 1.5 weeks or so but when we face deep teams like the Jazz we need to be at full strength.

It was all part of business. I don't think management was gonna let Landry walk even if another team offered a more lucrative deal. Landry is more valuable to our team than to any other team, and we were able to keep him at a bargain price.

I could see Landry devolping into a David West type player. He needs to continue to work hard and we will definitly see a good future. He is a bargain for the next 3 years.

There is a gaping hole in our bench. The bench has been consistently outplayed since Landry was shot. He is a very, very important part of our rotation and missing him is huge. It's a very noticeable hole, much more so than last year.

They said last night on TNT (not sure on credibility) that he was supposed to be put on a treadmill today or tomorrow and start rehab.

Can't wait to have him back. Hopefully he has enough time to get back into shape before the playoffs.

Where you miss Landry the most is filling in the minutes for Scola and Yao from the last 3 minutes of the first quarter to the first 6 minutes of the 2nd quarter. Then to end the third and begin the 4th. The Rockets really needed that 4th big man tonight, and Deke just isn't able to go provided he has to play next to Chuck.

Landry has taken a dozen hard falls this year, and he keeps on going. I don't think his durability has really ever been an issue beside his knee "problem" last year kinda disappeared after we got him back under contract! :D

I would have liked to see a little bit of Deke and Scola together last night. Just to see how that combo works with maybe Lowry Wafer and Shane.

There are so many combos that we can do with this team and that I would like to see, but I know Adelman is striving for consistency and not experimentation.

Carl, we need you. Get well soon.

Yeah. It was two missionaries. They rammed him with their bike and injured him with their bible.
